Okay, what a horrible summer this is turning out to be. I just got bumped from my teaching position due to low enrollment. I've sent out so many resumes, but haven't heard anything yet. So, when interview time comes, I need to be ready. I've been teaching for 7 years and my interview was not really an interview. I need help. What questions did they ask you? Do they really look at your portfolio? I wasn't expecting this, so I haven't saved alot of student work. Thanks, if anyone can help.....
I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. Are you still guaranteed a job in the district even though you need to change schools? Are you tenored? Here are some questions that you may want to think about.
Describe your classroom during Language Arts time. What are the kids/teacher doing? What is the classroom environment like?
What leadership roles have you had at your previous school?
What would you do if you have an upset parent at your door first thing in the morning as your letting your class inside?
What would you do about a disruptive child in your classroom?
What is your discipline policy?
What is your teaching philosophy?
What would someone see in your classroom on a daily basis?
What experience do you have with special education students?
How would you help a stuggling learner?
How do you feel about parental involvement?
How do you think you will benefit our school?
Just a few to start with. I am sure I will come up with more. Also make sure that you have questions for the interviewer. Such as...Tell me about your school population. What is the school philosophy? What kind of parental involvement does your school have? What support services do you provide for teachers?
