I have been on the same pill for almost 10 years now (!!!) and I was considering asking my Dr about switching at my next gyno appt. I was thinking about Seasonale since the thought of only having my period 4x a year is very appealing to me.
Is anyone still on Seasonale? Good reviews? Anybody had any issues?(other than cost, my insurance pays 90% so cost isn't a factor) Thanks!
I'm on it and I love it. I've kind of forgotten what periods are like, I have them so rarely. The first pack I took went beautifully, no breakthrough bleeding or anything like that. The next one had some breakthrough bleeding about halfway in and a little bleeding closer to my period. Other than that, I've had no problems whatsoever.
Oh and don't forget to take a pill - or three - around the time of your period or your period will last a lot longer than it should (ouch - from experience!)
I just started taking it about three weeks ago, so I'm not even through the first month yet but so far I really, really like it. I haven't had a post partum period so I was expecting at least some spotting, but so far I haven't had a problem. I love the idea of having only four periods a year, so I hope this continues to work for me.
I just started taking it about 2 months ago. I just started getting some spotting within the past 3 weeks or so. I think it's because I haven't been consistent with the time I take the pill.
I can also say that I was still PMSing even though I didn't get my period the past two months. Just crabby and sensitive but not to the extreme that I usually am.
I have been breaking out really badly these past couple of months. I read that acne is a possible side effect. I have an appointment with my Derm. on Monday and will be bringing this up with him (I already take meds for acne).
Oh, and in my research I found out that you cannot eat grapefruit while on this pill I haven't had grapefruit in about 2years, but wouldn't you know it, the night before I found out I had purchased 2 graperuits at the store!
I have been on it for a year and I love it. No major problems except bad cramps the first day of my period but I find my period is shorter now so I'll take that trade cause all it takes is some ib profin to fix the cramps.
FYI, you can mimic the effects of Seasonale with other pills (though it doesn't always work). If you like the pill you're on, it might be worth asking your dr. if you can just use that pill like Seasonale.

I believe this only works with monophasic pills (Most birth control pills contain the hormones estrogen and progestin. They are categorized as monophasic, biphasic, or triphasic pills depending on whether the level of hormones stays the same during the first three weeks of the menstrual cycle or changes) - so something like Ortho TriCyclen won't work because there are three different levels of hormones throughout the cycle. Before I switched to Seasonale (which I LOVE), I took Ortho Cyclen continuously and it had the same effect.

Yes, you're right! I should have mentioned that. I've done it with Yasmin, Orthocyclen and Loestrin.
