This whole job search thing is totally new to me. Jobs have always landed in my lap...
So, I've applied for my first job post-law school!! And, it just so happens that it is not a law job. Anyway. The deadline for applications was Friday, May 19. It is a state government job, so I know that adds a little extra slowness to the process, but how long should I expect to wait until I hear about an interview.
I am trying to think positive and think that I will at least get an interview...doesn't government positions require interviewing a certain percentage of people? Anyway, there are actually 3 openings, so I hope I at least get an interview.
I know that it hasn't even been a week, so I am not sweating it yet, but how long is the norm?
For my job (which is a big company but not government operated) It was a long process. It was about about 3 months between applying and my first day. I can't remember exactly but I waited around a month just to go take the prequalifying tests so I could be interviewed.

State jobs can vary. I know when I applied for some it took weeks to hear back if at all. The interview process can sometimes be long too. Just stay positive and keep applying
