what kind of self tanner is everyone using, and why do you like it?
i have been using loreal sublime bronze dual action for face in light/medium, and love it b/c it has bronzer in it so you get some color right away. i just ran out and am having a hard time finding it (cvs used to always have it and now they don't) so i'm interested to hear what everyone else likes.
i also use loreal sublime bronze gel in dark for my body. this stuff give me the greatest, natural looking, dark color. after 2 to 3 applications i am totally tanned. it's a little tricky to apply b/c it's more watery than a cream, so you have to be sure your skin is really dry and rub it in really well and really keep it off of your knees, elbows, and ankles b/c it tends to get really dark there if you let it. it has a little bit of shimmer in it too.
i still have a reserve of natural glow that i'm trying to use up from last summer too.
e_doli, does the l'oreal smell? do you put it on at night and then shower in the morning? my bf forbid me to continue using the natural glow even though i loved it bc he hated the smell!
I don't self tan but a couple of girls at work just got Mystic Tan done for $25 and I'm thinking about doing that. It looks really good and they said it didn't smell at all.
I use the l'oreal sublime bronze self-tanner/moisturizer - i'm too tired to remember the name, though. good color, not a bad smell, pretty much fool proof. Every once ina while i streak, but oherwise it's been great. I've even been getting the "you look really good lately, are you doing something different?" comments...
I use loreal sublime bronze gel too - just on my body. The gel seems to absorb faster than lotions, so I don't feel sticky after I put it on. Mara, yes it totally smells I put it on at night and shower in the morning. My husband absolutely abhors the smell too.
yep, my bf wont allow me in bed if i have it on. so sad because it really works great!
That's funny, I just finished applying self tanner! I'm using Coppertone Endless Summer Bronzing Foam in medium/deep. I like it because it's a pump, so it's easy to get an even color on, say, both legs or something... I'm one to forget how much I use before it's time to move onto the next one. It's a bit sticky, but it absorbs pretty quickly so I don't mind. It supposedly "shows where it goes" but I only notice a slight tint. It gives me a nice color, and the color shows up in about a half hour or so, so it's easy to fix any streaks (although I've never had any streaks with this one). It stinks a little, but not nearly as much as other brands I've tried. I want to try Mystic Tan but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
sublime bronze wipes! I am a total klutz, but I never get streaks with these, and there's no major smell. They take a few apps, though -- at least on me.

I would really like to try the Mystic Tan, but there isn't one nearby. I've tried self tanners a few times, but I cannot stand the smell of it for a little color.
I forgot about another one. Savage Bronze is pretty good -- you can get it at Sally's. Not orangey at all IMO. It smells like chocolate, which my dogs love.

For all you girls who hate the smell of most self tanners (like Jergen's Natural Glow) I just bought Dove Energy Glow and it's awesome! It actually smells good. I swear - no self tanner nasty smell at all.
I can't stand the smell of Jergen's Natural Glow, so I have been rotating though the alternatives to see what I like. I am using Neutrogena Summer Glow right now, which has a much more subtle smell to it, and instead of strongly smelling like chemicals, it sort of smells like a bit of self-tanner mixed with soap. I like it so far.
I liked the Hawaiian Tropic one. Strong smell, but it smelled like roses or something to me. Didn't smell like self-tanner.
On deck are Dove Energy Glow and the one from Vaseline.
Can you girls who use the tan towels or wipes give some more info? Do you use one wipe per application? Does it ever streak? How much does it cost? Etc., etc., etc.
My fave is Estee Lauder's Go Bronze (or whatever it's called now). I buy one bottle each spring/summer and use it along with Jergen's Natural Glow (now I think I'll go for the Dove one because the JNG just smelled too strong). I love the color of the Estee Lauder and it's a tinted application so I am less likely to mess up - also very clumsy.
I just bought Magic Tan Aerosol Self Tanning Spray. I totally suck at applying and never use a self tanner more than once because 1.) I suck at applying, 2.) I don't have the patience to apply it, and 3.) I usually hate the smells. That being said and considering this is suppposed to be "fool proof" according to the SA, I should be the perfect guinea pig to try it. I'll report back tomorrow with the results!
From the folks who pioneered the mist-on tanning booth, this do-it-yourself spray-on bronzer is easy to apply, seldom streaks, and will leave you glowing and gorgeous without the related wrinkle-inducing 'rays'
