Now this company because they do a lot of work with Homeland Security, they do a very thorough background check. One of the places I listed on my application I worked at about 2 years ago. When I was filling in my employment information. I was off on my salary by about 1500. Which really is not a big deal (I hope) in the grand scheme of things. It was an honest mistake and I told them as much, it's not like I was off by 10k or something like that.
Well the employer called to ask me about it
Do you think they could possibly take back their offer based on this?
I already gave notice at my current place of employment..it would totally suck if this happened.
Really? I don't think they'd take back an offer based on that. What would have had to gain by lying about it, if you had done it purposefully? And it's only $1,500 - I would say that's a reasonable amount to be off +/- anyway. I mean, who consults their W-2's from 2 years ago for exact salary amounts for a freaking job app?
I wouldn't worry .

Since it involves Homeland Security, I'm sure they have to question any discrepancy, even if it is $2 off. I'm positive that once you explained it to them, they understood. I really doubt they will withdraw their offer. I don't think I would remember the exact salaries of jobs I've had in the past.
