my sister and i went shopping today and her and i are VERY different when it comes to shopping. she finds so many cute things from F21, H&M, etc...i, on the other hand, tend to spend a ton of money on one piece from Nordstrom, Field's, Neiman's, Saks... but, everytime we both go to
urban outfitters
anthropologie
banana
gap
express
we never have good luck! i think it's crazy because i'll look online and i'll find cute things, but everytime i go, i can't find a thing. it's also crazy because a lot of those stores are such staples for so many girls on this board. what stores do you always find things at? what store do you never find things at?

I never seem to get anything at American Eagle. I love the idea of the laid back style and usually see cute things on the webpage, but when I go to the store I never like what I find.

I am so impressed with girls who find cute things and H&M and F21 - I never find/buy anything there. The other store where I always have bad luck is the Gap - I haven't bought anything there in over a year.
I never find anything at Urban Outfitters or Banana Republic it's so frustrating because on line the stuff looks so cute but on me the fit is never quite right.

GAP and it sucks because I always get giftcards. A couple summers ago they had the cutest stuff and I bought a ton there and now I just can't get into it.

interesting poll. i will look in almost any store, but i very rarely buy stuff from these stores. like i think i only have 1 or 2 pieces in my closet from these stores
*urban
*arden b.
*bebe
*anthro
*h&m -- i almost always return the stuff i buy from there. in fact i bought two things last weekend and ended up returning them. though they do have great coats
*gap -- nothing ever fits the way i want it to
*br -- i almost exclusively shop the outlet and that's only for work clothes
*bcbg
*american eagle
*a&f -- though on a fluke i got two great sweaters from there this season
*guess
*charlotte russe
*limited
*ann taylor & ann taylor loft
*zara (but i'm rediscovering this store)
*nine west (i almost always find shoes from there for way cheaper at macy's)
*steve madden (see above)
*j.crew -- i'm a huge fan of their shoes, but they can be found on ebay for way cheaper
i feel like i named most major mall stores, but it's not that i'm a snob or anything (i'm a big f21 shopper). it's just that the way i shop, i fall in love with specific pieces, and then try to get them, or something similar. so i have clothes from the most random places, and even though certain brands appear in my closet a lot, very rarely are they purchased from the same store.
*Express (I really avoid this place because of the return policy, but frankly for me it hasn't been that hard to do)
*ON/GAP/BR (Always a fit or quality issue, plus the styles are pretty blah. I like all my things to have punch)
*Aeropostale (I never like their incarnations of the stuff and feel that I can get all the stuff more easily at A&F, which is a store I like because of the quality factor and the generally amazing fit. )
*Charlotte Russe (I can handle F21 in the right mindframe, but never CR)
*Bebe (Ridiculously overpriced 95% of the time and so...um...flashy...)
*Zara (I find good things here and there, but for the most part it's either too tame or the cool stuff never ever works on my body type)
*Nine West (I refuse to buy shoes from Nine West now. All the cute ones are uncomfy and I haven't liked the ones I've owned...the quality isn't there.)
*Limited (The only thing I've ever liked was their Drew fit work pants...otherwise, it's not worth the time to sift through the store for a few cute things.)
I feel like such a snob for saying this, but the truth is that I don't like most mall stores because I'd rather spend $15 on a James Perse tee at a sample sale rather than buying a Gap favorite tee. I prefer to shop sales and places like Loehmanns to get stuff I love for cheaper.
I guess for me it depends on what mall I go to here at home. For example a lot of the Express stores I can never seem to find anything, but the mall downtown at the Riverwalk ( San Antonio) has a lot more to chose from because its not visited as often.
ON/BR/Gap trifecta - I don't really need a lot of basics, and items I have bought there don't seem to last as long as I like.
Kenzie - I really want to like Kenzie because I always love the magazine ads, and the stuff looks so cute on the website. However, I always feel like the clothes look totally different in the store.
Macy's - I went to Macy's in San Fransisco last fall and I couldn't believe how nice it was there. The Macy's in Seattle sells crap. It does seem to be getting better, but I can never find any clothes I like. I sometimes find shoes and they do have good sales on jewelry.
AE, A & F, and Express - They just don't interest me.
Outlets or places like Loehmann's or Century 21. Partly because for the most part, the clothes don't look quite like the ones you would find in the retail store (they look older or maybe they are a special line just for outlets) and partly because they aren't presented nicely. Clothes just don't look as nice when they are squished together with a million other things on a rack or thrown around on the floor.
* Old Navy - I feel like some of you girls find the cutest stuff there, but most times when I go everything looks cheap and like crap.
* F21 - another store where I think a lot of you girls find great stuff, but whenever I go nothing fits right, or I find nothing.
* H&M - the store is huge and I never find anything there
* A&F - I never find anything there, besides their sizing is so weird.
* I also NEVER find anything at TJ Maxx or Marshall's - I guess I'm not a good bargain shopper. So many times my friends or you girls find great stuff there, but I never find anything.
Anthro - it always looks beautiful on the hanger, but never fits me correctly. Everything I try on there ends up being short and way too low-cut. I just don't have the right body type, I think.
Gap - I stopped shopping there, because again, the fit is terrible on me.
Abercrombie - I know it's ridiculous, but the store makes me feel old.
The Limited - Sfclinevandy took the words right outta my mouth
J.Crew - I can't bring myself to pay their prices for stuff that is so plain.

I shop at Gap (outlet since there is no regular Gap) frequently and usually come out empty handed. Usually because the racks are crammed full and it's not worth sifting through, they won't have my size, and usually because it won't fit right, especially the pants will be too short and I'm not even tall!
Old Navy I go into every once awhile and come out with nothing. The fit is terrible, the material quality is just as bad on most items. Also everything is just squished in there.
New York & Company I visit every other month or so. Never buy anything. Mostly because their clothes are too big. And my major problem is that most of the tops are very low cut and are made of cheap acrylic.
I"m glad to see I'm not the only one here whoe doesn't have luck at Anthropologie- it seems like so many people here find great stuff there all the time- I never find anything that fits right and it just seems kinda $$ for what it is...but I still get suckered into looking every time I walk by...
