I'm in some serious need of ideas on what to do on the weekends.d DH and I getting really bored. We NEVER do anything on the weekends. We like to do things but just never know what. A typical weekend for us is to sit on the couch and watch TV or watch movies we've rented (after of course we do chores and errands). WHile this can be relaxing at times, we're both just looking for more. We need to spend some more time toghether that does not involve us sitting in front of the TV; or me in front of one TV and him in front of another playing video games.
DH is a musician and he always has shows. We get to see a lot of cool clubs and bars that we might not have gone to otherwise. Live music draws a HUGE crowd near us.
We also go to the driving range, visit friends, go on double dates, take our puppy to the park, go to open houses, minor league baseball games, go to the gym together, walk around Ikea.. etc etc
I do a lot of heavier cleaning on weekends, like mopping the wood floors, or bathrooms.
When we actually have time for fun stuff and it's not cold outside we like to take the dog to the park or beach, or go hiking and take a picnic with us. We also own bikes and there's a bike trail near so we love to ride bikes around town and up and down the path (it's many miles long). Also, when we truly have weekends in the summer we like to go to the beach. We walk about 1.5 miles to a bar on the beach, get a little silly, then walk the journey back; that fills a day nicely and usually leaves us exhausted.
DH also loves to watch TV and take naps on Sunday's so I will often leave him in his recliner and go out shopping at Target or a particular shopping center I enjoy going to.
Every once in a while we will go to Barnes and Nobles to get coffee and peruse the books or magazines. That can really suck up some hours, plus it always starts conversations for us (talking about the books or mags).
Also, every blue moon (as in this Saturday -yay!) we go into NYC for the museums or whatever. This Sat. we are going to the Natural History Museum for a few hours, then we'll probably walk around Central Park for people watching.
In the winter we pretty much hibernate and watch TV, clean, or I do Ebay selling stuff while DH sleeps. It's so much better when the weather is nice so we can get out of the house.
We try to do our errands during the week, so that we can do fun stuff on the weekend. During the day I knit a lot while DH works on recording. We always watch hockey on Saturday night and sometimes invite friends over to watch w/ us. We often go to see a band if their is someone in town who interests us. We also take the dog to the park, maybe go out for brunch w/ friends one day, and usually go to the gym. We don't go out shopping a lot, but we often just randomly pick a neighborhood and explore - window shop, grab coffee, check out the farmer's market, etc. Actually, now that I think of it, we do that alot, the people watching is always good.
Besides errands and shopping we take the dog to the park. Go to museums or art galleries. Perhaps you two can take a class together like beginning martial arts, photography, dance lessons. Or join a co-ed sports league. My DH and I play non-competitive volleyball in the summer. We also like to go bowling.
Since you said you DH likes video games is there a adult oriented games place to go to like Dave and Busters that could be fun especially if you can play the old school games against each other like Miss PacMan or Donkey Kong.
Are there small road trips you can do together? Places like an hour or so away, you can rotate weekends on who's turn it is to pick where to go.
For staying home we like board games like Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, Scrabble.
My parents love to go garage sale-ing or to the flea market. I bet you could find some fun jewelry. Give yourselves each $20 to buy random crap with.
HTH!

Carrie Bradshaw
also you can go salsa dancing, bowling, hiking, gym, museums, go to festivals (if there are any in town), double dating, shopping , and we've been toying with going to the driving range as well..
Anything that means I can be outside. A lot of dog walking, hiking and mountain biking. I hate going to the movies or bars on the weekend, because that is whenever one else goes ( I am a bit anti-social).

We do a lot of errands: Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, etc. We really live on the edge.
We get a lot of house/yard projects done on the weekends and we'll often go to Borders and peruse the magazines and cookbooks or go to the local bar and sit on the deck and have a beer. We have a lake behind our house, so we'll go for a walk around that too. Sometimes we'll head to the farmer's market and get some produce, or take in a wine tasting at this awesome wine store I just found.
Nothing terribly exciting, but we enjoy it.
P.S. It totally makes me feel like Wil Ferrell in Old School whenever I say I'm going to Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond if we have time.
Well If Iam not working, spending time with my son. Laduary and other errands. Sometime I go visit my Mom and we go out shopping, or we go see hubby side of the family. Also work in the yard which Iam doing tomorrow. Oh today I cleaned out my study closet and made room for my winter clothes. I have to divide my clothes into two smaller closets.
I'm pretty much like all the rest - laundry, ironing, cleaning house; I will sometimes get out and do some shopping, or Joe and I will go shoot some pool or go bowling. Fun? Very little.

7am Saturday-"Wakie-time" as the sun just starts to peek in. A pile of boys jump on me (okay not "boys"- boy babies-two of them) and we start the day. We make breakfast then we go to the gym and the little ones play in the nursery while I work out. My eleven year-old boy comes with us and practices basketball while we're there. We come home and I usuallly have just enough time to jump in the shower and then it is off to my older boy's basketball or football games. I am always rushing to pack diapers, crackers, juice boxes and toys for the babies becasue my husband coaches my older son's team and I am "on duty" during the games. After the game we come home and put the little ones down for their nap. During naptime my husband usually naps and I do chores or surf the net. Later in the afternoon we go bowling, shopping, to an amusement park, etc. We are usually home by eight or nine and then we put the kids down to bed and it's back to doing laundry, watching tv, or surfing the net. Sometimes I take my older son to Starbucks and Borders after the little ones go to bed and he gets a Lemony Snicket or Harry Potter book and I get a stack of magazines to read. This is my version of a Saturday night date!
Sunday 7 am-Repeat of Saturday morning. My husband and I pack up the kids and head to Chuck E Cheese (my kids call it "Chucky Cheezits") and get there right at 10 when they open (this is the ONLY time we go to Chucky's-often we are the only ones there for the first 20 minutes or so). We read the Sunday newspaper while the kids play. Everyone is happy this way. Come home, eat lunch, put the kids for a nap. After that we usually repeat Saturday but we try to get home by 7 to get organized for the week ahead.
We usually go to garage sales & lunch with my in laws - they do that & sell on ebay full time so they are uber organized about it. But i'm about tired of doing it so I am trying to cut back to every other week.
We do a lot of movie watching & play our playstation - in addition to laundry, etc. No heavy cleaning on the weekends though, we try to do only fun or slothful things on our weekends.

BF and I have been lazy lately too. In the fall we would spend Sat and Sun at the mall walking around. But that got expensive and we started having to work weekends up until Feb 28th. So now we are trying to do fun things around town that doesn't cost too much. We went to the zoo a few weekends ago, I have a free pass to the museum of fine arts so we will probably go check that out one weekend. We still haven't made it to either of the big parks in town so that will be another weekend. We do a lot of house cleaning during the day and run errands and then we will cook at night and watch the netflix movies we just got in that week. Its just kind of a routine but its nice.
