Spain/Italy trip! Any suggestions??!
Permalink Closed

So I'm going to Spain and Italy during the end of July. I've never been to Spain, but I know I'll be arriving in Madrid first. Taking a Europass after a week to go to Italy and be there for another week. I've been to Venice,Naples, and Rome before in Italy but will be going to florence this time. Any advice of places to go,eat, shop, visit in those 2 countries? Much appreciated!!!

I've been to Madrid, and the Prado is a must see - there's also a couple of really good squares - the names of which escape me right now (I can look some things up later this week) it is also the worst pickpocketing city I've ever seen (I can type up the techniques they use so you can out-smart them when I can come back with more info) where else are you going in Spain?  I've been to a large portion of it - Costa del Sol, Seville, Granada, Gibraltar (although that's part of the UK), and Toledo.

I know there's some other posts in regard to Florence - recent posts - you might want to do a search in the forum for Florence - the posts cover lodging, resaurants, sights, shopping...

I think Seville as well, not quite sure yet, hopefully barcelona as well, kind of where ever I feel like going :) and anything further north in spain towards italy will work as well to stop at. Thanks for your help! any more will do! :)

Seville is one of my favorite cities in the world. Its incredible. Its so small that you can walk around the city centre but big enough that there is so much to see and do. Shopping is amazing in Seville. You have to check out a shoe store called Pilar Burgos...I'm drooling just thinking about it!

You can take these horse-drawn carriage rides from the Cathedral around town to all of the sights, its about $35 Euro and well worth it. Also see the Plaza of the Americas and Maria Luisa park.

In Florence you have to check out the outdoor markets, a store called Leonardo Leather works and the Galleria Dell'Academia, of course, which has the staute of David.

I am so jealous! Have fun!
