I met Anberlin! It was crazy. I was in high school and we were having a hotel party (at a sketchy Day's Inn) and they were staying down the hall. They called us pretending they were complaining about the noise and then said they were joking and wanted to hang out and we ended up partying with them. In retrospect that's kind of creepy cause we were like 17. That's my story of the day.
I've been listening to... I'll Believe In Anything - Wolf Parade (thanks for making me actually listen the them luckylily) Not Dark Yet - Bob Dylan Banging Everything in Sight - Tomorrow's Friend Honey Pie - The Beatles Baby C'mon - Stephen Malkmus I Won't Be Left - Tegan & Sara Pieholden Suite - Wilco My Way - Frank Sinatra (inspired by Johnny Weir's gala program) Hanging On the Telephone - Blondie Coyotes - Don Edwards Lust For Life - Iggy Pop
i've been listening to a lot of lounge music lately which i am sure that no one is interested in. most people who get in my car are like "what the h*ll are you listening too!"
but then again most of them don't have the best taste in music
anyway, my friend sent me "Cat Power" and I have been loving her stuff... very chill
Sia - she did the song Breathe Me that was played in the final episode of Six Feet Under, and her whole album is amazing. She's one of the singers in the band Zero 7.
Assassins - but I don't think you can find any of there stuff on iTunes.
like halleybird, i've been listening to a lot of stuff stolen from the last few times we've done this. but besides that, i've been digging dare by gorillaz, which i'm sure isn't new, but i just saw the video on mtv (when my tivo randomly recorded some videos at 3 am) and couldn't get it out of my head. like a dork, i keep dancing to it around the kitchen while i cook and wash dishes and stuff.
and bex, i'm definitely interested in loungey chill music...so keep posting your recs!

okay... what i do is just hop on ITunes and search people's IMixes for lounge music... this music is what i drive to and what i listen too when i come home from a long trip and pour a glass of wine and just unwind... it makes me feel like i am a cool club somewhere...
here is what I have currently that is on my mix:
Angelica by Lamb
Indra by Thievery Corporation (actually I have quite a few of there songs that I've picked up from soundtracks, etc.)

Strangely I've been listening to these a lot recently too. I think it's cause they keep playing Mr. Big in the commercials for that Monster Ballad CD. And Creep is like my theme song.
Chicken Payback - The Bees (this has been played in American Eagle, Express, every store!) Chicago - Sufjan Stevens (because I just moved to Chicago!) Say Something New - The Concretes (I think this is from a Sunkist commercial) Warning Sign - Coldplay (just because I love this song) Elevator Love Letter - Stars (check them out ... I love everything by them so far!) I'm Shakin' - Rooney (not usually my kind of music, but it makes me think I am in an episode of "Laguna Beach" or something) Denial Twist - White Stripes (makes me want to dance around my apt., which could be bad) I'm Ready, I Am - The Format (don't know where I found this one, but I like it)
halleybird... I know I mentioned them at one point, and I just found out that the singer had a band before The Decemberists called Tarkio. The Tarkio CD, "Omnibus," is on iTunes for $12 and it has $27 songs. I haven't actually downloaded it so I don't know if it's good, but thought I would suggest it.

relrel- ahhhhhhh. the roots. that definitely reminds me of my days in philly. i'll have to break them out again. thanks for reminding me. for some reason for me, the roots and disco biscuits go hand and hand, so i'll have to break them both out.

cool! Thanks. The lead singer is the nerdy one, right? The one who studied history or literature in college? I checked them out on Amazon after someone else mentioned them on here, and I am totally in love with the fact that some of their songs are supposedly about 17th/18th cent. Europe. Nerdy!
killa -- I love, love, love The Format (and they're from my hometown!). "I'm Ready, I am" is probably my favorite song of theirs. If you want more songs to download, let me know!

I love hearing what you all are listening to right now! I've gotten some great recs from you all! Whoever recommended the Imogen Heap album and James Blunt album last time around is great!!!
I need to work on my playlists a bit, but at this very moment I have four cds on rotation in the CD player while we're making dinner:
James Blunt
John Mayer Trio (very different from his solo stuff)
Eric Clapton and BB King's album "Riding with the King"--came out a few years ago and it's great
The JB's "Pass the Peas"--it's James Brown and a bunch of other people. Very fun.
