This is sad - just saw this on E! But, it sounds like her prognosis is good.
Sheryl Crow's Cancer Fight
by Natalie Finn Feb 24, 2006, 7:55 PM PT
Sheryl Crow says she is heading toward a full recovery from breast cancer surgery earlier this week.
News of Crow's cancer battle was broken Friday on her Website and confirmed by her publicist, Dave Tomberlin, who announced the 44-year-old singer-songwriter underwent successful surgery on Wednesday.
"Her doctors think her prognosis is excellent," Tomberlin said.
The nine-time Grammy winner, who described the procudure as "minimally invasive," will now begin precautionary radiation treatment, according to a statement on sherylcrow.com.
"I am joining the more than 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year," Crow says on the site, adding the cancer was detected early.
"I am inspired by the brave women who have faced this battle before me and grateful for the support of family and friends."
To allow time for rest and recuperation, Crow has scrapped her North American tour, which was scheduled to kick off next month and run through April in support of her recent album, the Grammy-nominated Wildflower. Crow says she hopes to make up the dates as soon as possible.
Everyday in February must seem like a winding road to Crow. The cancer announcement comes exactly three weeks after she made public her split from Lance Armstrong.
The couple had been engaged for four months and romantically linked since 2003.
Armstrong, 34, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996.
"Once again I'm reminded of just how pervasive this illness is, as it has now touched someone I love deeply," he said in a statement Friday. "
Crow can take solace in knowing that after surgery and treatment, Armstrong was declared cancer-free and rebounded to win seven consecutive Tour de France titles.
i wonder if their breakup was at all related to this? I hope she gets well soon
i am an evil evil person and am going to hell but...
my first reaction to hearing about this the other day is...how ironic. (and now...i don't know the terms of the breakup...who, what why...) i kinda feel like god (and now...i don't really believe in god or any sort of higher power...) is punishing her for dumping lance. like he's sitting up there on his cloud thinking "well miss crow, you think you can go and dump someone like lance who survived cancer...well..ill get you. see what you think of cancer survivors now!" and then he throws his cancer/lightening bolt down and hits her with it. is that wrong that that was my first thought? gosh...within weeks of dumping a cancer survivor you announce that you have breast cancer, how terribly terribly ironic.
*in no way do i take cancer lightly or surviving cancer as a joke. this is just me being silly. please, don't be offended.*

Am I the only one who read that Lance dumped Sheryl? I thought he was messing around on her and broke up w/her. I just read that she was heartbroken over the split and didn't want to break up - maybe I'm wrong
I also heard that Lance broke it off. He was seen hanging out with a bunch of women at a club just as the news broke. I don't know if I'd say it's ironic exactly, but it's certainly coincidental because she supported him throughout his cancer struggle (or shortly thereafter), they break up and then she gets diagnosed with it. So sad--I hope she tolerates the treatment well.

Very similar to Lance's wife. She supported throughout all of his racing and through his cancer. He becomes well and decides she isn't for him. Then Sheryl comes along and life is peachy until she gets cancer. Who knows why it really ended and it doesn't really matter. I think it is a terrible thing for anyone to go through. I think Lance has interesting timing on his breakups though.
