I have stayed there and have no real complaints. If I remember correctly, the pool closed early and I once found myself in a line for the elevator after a convention or something had just let out. But my accomodations and the service was like that of any other decent hotel. The only reason I wouldn't choose the Hilton again is because it's "boring" compared to the theme hotels. Maybe if I found a good rate I couldn't refuse.
I've never stayed there but to be honest, I've never understood the concept of paying lots for a room in Vegas unless you are planning on partying in your room tons (which who does?). Since it's right off the strip & the monorail is running, I say stay at the cheap room & use the extra $ to buy a monorail pass + shop/gamble. I'm going Sunday & I've been researching it - the monorail is $15 a day unlimited rides or you can do an online 3 day pass for $40 unlimited. Granted, I've never done this, but I'm thinking it's a good plan to save on taxis.
Sorry i'm not more help.

Thanks for the review. I did find an excellent rate there. It is less than $100 a night. Golden Nugget, which I really like, is $170 and anything on the strip is well over $250. I'm not worried about being bored, so I might give it a shot. I'm not interested in staying on the strip this time (the gambling is just too expensive), so we'll just take a cab there and back. Two trips ago (last summer), we stayed at Paris, and the room was not as nice as the Nugget, twice as much, and we spent TONS of money gambling. Vegas is getting SO EXPENSIVE!!!

Thanks, Laken1, that does help. I forgot about the monorail. I'm with you about staying cheap in Vegas. My husband has probably spent hundreds of nights there for work (the Air Force base nearby), and I've been many times as well, so I'm not as awestruck by the strip as I was when I was younger. He wants nothing to do with staying on the strip, whatever the hotel cost. He prefers the Palace Station
I agree cricket. I've always thought it was a "cheap" vacation. We stayed for 5 days 2 years ago when we got married. For the money we spent, we could have done a 7 day all inclusive at a resort somewhere. And we didn't go to shows or gamble much. It just adds up really really quickly. And if you stay on the strip you have to take a cab (expensive) to get to the cheap food, which defeats the purpose!
When are you going? I leave Sunday & i'm SOOO excited.

My husband is leaving for Vegas tomorrow for 2 weeks, and I'm going to do my darndest to meet him for a night, but then he comes back and we're going out again April 7 for three nights to go to a wedding and visit friends. We'll have our kids with us for part of the time, but our friends are keeping them during the wedding and that night.
