Vin and I were talking over dinner last night, and I think we might go to Montreal for a long weekend in the summer. Any tips, rants, raves, recommendations, advice?
It's been years since I was there, but I think you'll love it. I don't really remember any specific recommendations. We stayed at the Four Seasons (I think it may be the Intercontinental) and was gorgeous. We also drove to Quebec (city) and stayed at the Chateau Frantaunac (I'm sure I butchered that) which was just like being transported to Europe.
i love montreal! last time we were there, we stayed in the latin quarter and it was nice, and very centrally located (i thought). we went in august, and i have to admit the weather still wasn't very warm. i would recommend maybe staying in mont-royal. it's a very "hip" neighborhood..and so close to a lot of the shops along st. denis and st. laurent.
old montreal is pretty, and nice to walk through, but i wouldn't stay there. it feels like a tourist-trap.
I just received my March Gourmet magazine and it is all about restaurants in Montreal. I'm jealous. I have never been there and the restaurants look fantastic.
