Burp cloths-- how long do you use them

You probably won't need too many/ any at all w/ a 10 month old. They pretty much stop all the spitting up by about 3 months. There may be some occasional, but she'll be able to hold her own bottle and burp on her own. 10 months is the best age!!!!! So smiley!

You probably won't need any at all. You won't have to go through that feeding and burping thing. She'll probably already be on solid food and sitting in a high chair.

Talia is only 5 months old - but I still use them. Not only for spit up, but drool - food that lands on me...there are a million different uses for them!!

Lucy is 9 months old and I use them from time to time (well, cloth diapers which are what I use mostly for burp cloths). Not so much for spit up but when I'm changing a dirty diaper I like to put them under her butt so she doesn't get poop on the changing pad. It's a lot easier to just throw the burp cloth in the washer then change the changing pad cover IMO. I think the best burp cloths btw are cloth diapers. I love them and they just seem more practical than actual burp cloths. I would think about 5 would be plenty.

Also, you didn't ask about this but I have to mention that the absolute BEST changing pad covers are from pottery barn (the chamois). They hold up so much better than the terry ones from Target and BRU. If I had to do it again, I'd buy just 3 of the PB ones (instead of what I have, which are 2 terry ones and 1 PB one). I think 3 is all you need--one in use, one clean and one dirty awaiting washing.

It really just depends on the baby, mine was a big spitter-upper by nature and I was still cleaning up big burps at 10 months.

But yes, one factor is how much food they eat sitting upright, and if they are the kind of babies who really like a lot of solids early on, then they typically begin to spit up less than those who prefer to hold out for breastmilk or formula as their main food way into one year old.

Now, my son is 17 months old and I still try to remember to keep a cloth (the ones I use are these big cloth diapers someone bought for me on ebay) around as a hanky for runny nose wiping and for cleaning sticky food off hands and face. It's better for the dry winter skin than a paper towel or tissue anyway.
