Hey girls--I am so lacking in energy these days that my doc wants to test me for mono (I have enlarged glands too). Anyway, in the meantime and as part of my attempt to take better care of myself health-wise this year, I want to get some type of a mutli-vitamin and/or supplement to give me more energy. I did a st search and wrote down a few things that interested me. Anyway, I am about to place an order on drugstore.com and want to know the following:
should I get a multivitamin AND COQ10 (which I've never taken but have heard about it here) or just the multivitamin?? I found a multi that got great reviews (gnc) but the coq10 seems to be good specifically for energy. I'm wondering if I should just get the multi and if I'm still feeling tired, get the coq10 later. I'm torn b/c the coq10 is on sale, but if I try them one at a time I'll be better able to determine which one is effective. Any ideas or opinions? Is coq10 really that great?
I don't really know that much about vitamins but I went to a doctor once who gave me a monthly B12 shot to help boost my metabolism and I took a daily B vitamin (can't remember the specific one) and I had a TON of energy then. He said it was the B vitamins, so maybe you can throw some of that in?
Of course if you really want some energy, you could always go the speed route.
no advice on the vitamins - but i'm hoping for your sake that it's not mono! i got that right around last spring and i'm STILL wiped out from it (it is in combo with my own sleeping disorder though)
the best things i know of to boost energy and help you out are this
-no caffeine - apparently wacks out your system (i'm addicted though)
- no alcohol
a regular sleep schedule, no TV at night or right before bed
- regular exercise
and make sure you're getting plenty o fruits and veggies! the fresh ones!
No advice either, but I'm praying for you that you do not have mono too! My boyfriend had mono about 2 years ago and it literally hung on for about a year. He felt tired, sluggish, and fatigued for 1 year. It really sucked.
Thanks for the encouragement, girls. I don't know when I'll be able to take that test, I have other issues going on with Lucy and she's more important right now. Plus I work all the damn time and have no leave! I really hope it's just stress and not mono.
Re the vitamins, I ended up skipping the coq10. I might try it later though.
