braces come off March 6th , Iam so happy they have been on for two years, when they come off I will need to whiten my teeth any good treatments? I will try the crest n strips but I have a feeling I may need something stronger . My teeth have made remarkable improvements but still not perfect because I to wait so long to get braces but hey its much better than they were
Oooh, you will love your new teeth! I remember thinking that I would need to whiten but I didn't at all (and trust me, I didn't listen to their no-soda no-junk-food policy and it didn't matter).

Yay! How exciting! I know just how you feel, I had braces for 4 long years in my teens. I kept thinking that my teeth felt slimy, but it's just that they were so smooth without all of that metal. Enjoy your new smile!
I've only ever tried the Crest strips to whiten but they make my teeth so sensitive. For that reason, I don't think that I would recommend them.
Congrats, Kaykay- I had braces in high school and I remember what a wonderful feeling it was to get them off!
It's a little more pricey, but it's a great investment to get a whitening mold made at the dentist. I got one made and it was about $250 (but it basically lasts forever) and then you just buy the whitening gel whenever you need it (like $20 for a lot).
Rosie, I feel like such an old lady, but my teeth get really sensitive too so my dentist suggested sensodyne! It works best if you brush with it for two weeks before whitening to build up your defenses, so to speak. It doesn't completely take away the sensitivity, but it helps a lot!
thanks rosey for reminding me about the mold My dentist made me right before I got my braces because I wanted to have my teeth a liitle whiter for my wedding but of course I will have to get another one made because my old one is no longer any good. I will try the sensodyne tooth paste because using the mold just for that short time even hurt.
I cant wait to be able to eat on the run and not wory about all that crap getting stuck in my braces
How exciting!!! I didn't know that you even wore braces! You must be good at hiding them.
Anyway, when I got my braces off in my teens, I went to the dentist and had them make the molds and got the whitening gel from them to do at home. Within two weeks or so my teeth were remarkably whiter. They looked so good actually that my parents both went to the dentist and had molds made for their teeth as well and their teeth look incredible too.
It's expensive to get it done at the dentist, but IMO I think the stuff they give you does a much better job than anything you can buy at a drugstore. I think it's more potent than what you can get over the counter, so I think your teeth get whiter and it doesn't take as long. Also, with the professional stuff you can touch up your teeth every few weeks if you feel like they need it.
I got mine laser whitened at the dentist 2 weeks ago. He was a friend of mine and charged me $199. I don't know how much it costs normally though. The results are good.

Congratulations kaykay! I had braces too, and it was such a wonderful feeling to get them removed. I bought my first nice lipstick afterwards in honor of being metal-free. I totally remember being paranoid every time I ate something that it was stuck in the braces (yuck).
I would also recommend getting your teeth whitened by the dentist. What they use is of higher quality and better for your teeth. Some of the at home whitening methods are harsher, and like other posters have noted, they make your teeth more sensitive.
Congratulations Kay Kay!! I got my braces off about 2 years ago and I went to Britesmile afterwards. It is pricey, but it made a huge difference. I know people who have had the molds done at the dentist and those seem to work great as well. Whatever you decide to do, I know your new smile will look great!!
How cute you must be with braces! I'm one of those weird ones who thinks braces are cute. Of course, I didn't think so when I had them many years ago. Congrats though; I'm sure you are ready for them to come off as soon as possible.

my strongest memory of having braces taken off was the feeling that my teeth were incredibly slick, I kept licking them. I know you have worn yours for two years, I wore mine for a shorter time and then didn't wear my retainer....so the crowding came back almost as bad as before in my lower teeth. Teeth continue to move throughout your whole life, so make sure you wear those retainers!
I didn't need any whiteners due to braces (only nowadays due to coffee drinking!), but when my sister had hers removed, she had those calcium spots (or something like that) which are not remedied by home whiteners. your orthodontist and dentist will let you know what you need if your teeth are in that condition.

Well ladies today I got half of my braces off. They took off back and side braces. They left the front top and bottom ones on. Dont worry they come off in two days(thurs) when I go back to get my retainer put on. They left the top ones on b/c I have a missing tooth after my teeth started moving around. I have a fake tooth wired on my braces and it look so real. The braces on the bottom are still on b/c they dont want my teeth to move around before the retainer gets put on .Oh and my retainer will have a fake tooth on it until I get a tooth bridge in.So I wont have to be toothless haha Iam so thrilled I have been giggling and day. I love the feel of the teeth I cant wait to start whitening flossing and eating like normal people It may be me but my front teeth are larger than my side and back teethI know Iam strange
