Digital Camera, Powershot

I know this has been posted before, but i kind of wanted some updated suggestions, and since alot of different cameras have come on the market since that last post, I was hoping I could get some advice.

Basically what im looking in a digital camera is one that will have very good pictures, obviously, at a good value, and one that wont be outdated any time in the near future.

Other than that, im not exactly sure what to look for in a camera or anything, so im totally in the dark, but plan on buying one tomorrow.

Hope you girls can help.

Ok... i just looked at the other posts, and definitely want to get a powershot, but there are so many to chose from on BestBuy....  can someone help me pick one that is good but good value and would be good for just basic needs.

i've had my powershot for a year now and i still love it and it takes excellent pictures.  I went with a 5.0 megapixel camera which is high but obviously there are higher ones now but it does really great 4x6 pictures and is good enough to blow up into 8x10s if I ever wanted to.  I have some pictures from vacation in august posted on dotphoto that I can link you too if you are interested.  i just need your email address for it.

Oh mine is the Canon Powershot A95 if you want to look it up.

TheCanon SD450 is great, and I think you can get it for under 300 now.  It's small and takes great pictures.  I have a Nikon and Casio (the tiny Casio) and the pictures look so crappy compared to my boyfriend's SD450 so much so that I'm considering getting one!  When he was looking for another canon (he has an SLR for his work) he went to the canon site and compared different models to see which features he wanted...so you might take some of the canon suggestions and look on their site to see which one would work best for you.

Yep - I just got the Canon Powershot Digital Elph SD450 and I love it!  It's easy to use and takes great pictures and it's so small.  HTH!
