my brother and my mom went to some "financial aid seminar" at the beginning of the school year... so last night i was talking to him about some crap, and he told me that he paid these people $1000 to help him w/ his financial aid - i went off on him because hello filling out your fafsa is FREE. basically what they do (i researched their company online) is fill out your fafsa for you and lie about how much your parents make to reduce your EFC (expected family contribution). then when the school comes back w/ the SAR (student aid report) and wants all your documentation, they will see that you lied about how much your parents make, you don't get the aid and the company walks away with your $1000!
OK tell your mom to take two steps right now 1) call Edifi and tell them that you want a refund, or you are reporting them to the Better business Bureau 2) report them to the Better business Bureau the sooner they do both these things the better!
they actually have an unsatisfactory standing w/ the BBB
i'm going to call because my mom speaks english well, but she will get pissed off and start cursing in Spanish lol

I'm glad you are calling! I know you and you won't let them get away with anything! I really hope your brother can get his money back.
