Updates on Everyone?

Hi y'all! I check back here an there to see what's up and I always wonder what the members have been up to in the past few years.

Here's an update on me:

My daughter is 8! EIGHT! She was an infant when I joined ST.  I have a 2 year old son.  I was laid off about 18 months ago from my job of over 8 years and now work for a Medical Device company.  Great company & benefits but I HATE it.  My passion is my online selling "business" on eBay.  My ultimate goal is to turn it into a full time gig so I can spend more time with my kids or at least work PT outside the home instead of FT.  I'm also throwing around the idea of opening a closeout store in my town. Oh...and Im still married & still live in Southern Cali.

Who's next? :)

Hi, BargainQueen! I miss your avatar. Lol!

I left my crappy job at the college, and now I'm a student in the Information Architecture and Knowledge Management - User Experience Design at Kent State University (mostly-all online).

I am a kitty-mommy to 2 cats now. One just showed up on our back patio. He was very sick and very loveable, so we kept him. We nursed him back to health, and he's a great addition to our household.

Dad passed away in August 2010, and--since then--my sister and I fixed up his house and are renting it to my mom so she can have a bigger place than what she was living in before (they were divorced).

Still happily married! Still living in Charlotte (kinda getting restless to live somewhere else, but I'm too comfortable to move).

That's about it for me.

Hey there!

I work too much. I put on weight. I'm having a difficult time trying to get back in the swing of exercising. Work is very stressful and I'm spread thin. I'm currently hung over because I worked all weekend and had little sleep, followed by a 7 hour strategy meeting on Monday -- of course I hit happy hour on Monday night. Guess I hit it a little too hard. Husband has been unemployed for 3/4 of a year. Funky times. I love my house and it's coming along and the puppies are doing very well.

These challenges will pass. I want to win the lottery.

That's all I can think of right now...

Wow! It's been forever. I can't believe ST started 8 years ago. Im sad that I haven't kept up with it. I gained weight at one point, but lost all of it and more. I am moving to a new state in 2 weeks and I'm engaged and getting married next year. Anyone who remembers me probably thinks that's crazy with all my insane dating situations. Still love to shop!

I have an amazing nephew who will be 1 in a few weeks (we actually are having his party this Saturday) and he is the absolute best thing to ever happen to me personally and us as a family. Because of him, I can honestly say that this has been the best year of my life.

On a more superficial note, I've started to home brew with my younger brother. We bottled our first beer, a Scottish Ale, back on Memorial Day weekend and last Saturday was it's debut at our annual bock party. And you know what? It was DELICIOUS! I'm really really proud of it. We named the beer Piper Down (if you've ever seen the movie So I Married An Axe Murderer, you'll know where we got the idea) and we called our "brewery" Second Story Brewery. My house is a 2-flat (two apartments but we actually live in both of them.) My grandmother used to live in the upstairs apartment and this was our little nod to her.

Howdy!

Let's see, I left the newspaper industry after 10 years (they closed their doors) and went to work for the local University. I was bored and hated it until recently. I'm in my 3rd job in 3 years there, but I finally found a job I like and it keeps me busy. My hubby also worked at the paper, so when he left he bounced around for a while until we decided he should open his own personal training business (he was a part time trainer and part timer at the newspaper). So, that has been keeping us very busy, but he is doing well enough in this crummy economy.

My almost 13 year old dog died 6 months ago. We want another but it is too soon. I miss her so! So, we now just have 1 cat.

Both my family and my husbands family have had a lot of serious health problems as of late, but we are getting by.

Other than that, nothing else is really new. Hubby and I will celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary at the end of the month.

I've had a busy couple of years. My job got sent overseas so I ended up in a position that had me traveling to customer sites, which I thought I would hate but actually kind of loved. I still have my two pugs and the same house. The man I considered the love of my life proposed to me and we planned a dream wedding (small, DIYish) which fell apart when he left with three weeks to go, after we found out we were pregnant. I've never been more devastated but learned a lesson to appreciate every moment of joy because you never know what could come next.
I had to change jobs since I could no longer travel as a single-parent-to-be; the stars aligned & I scored a position which is 100% from home. I have very weird hours, but I get to see my daughter all day long. She is now 14 mos. and these have been the best fourteen months of my life. Things did not turn out as I had imagined, but I am sincerely very happy. My baby & I have a good life.
I finally paid off my last student loan, so I am getting the bug to go back to school. We shall see.
As a bonus, there is no better shopping than for a baby girl!

Nice to hear everyone's updates.
