I see alot of summer styles that are marked real down- but, I wonder if they will still be acceptable to wear next season- Im really not that much of a stickler to trends , but you dont want to be obviously out of style either.Has anyone seen any projections?
i'm usually more of an intuitive dresser- usually just know when something feels tired. so its hard to say- but i think certain trends are here every year- for example- white. theres always so much cute crisp white things- crisp white shorts with a flowy blouse and then a little short sleeve cardigan or jacket of sorts. i think there is going to be a lot of mixing flowy/boho with more tailored looks. also, a lot more tops/dresses in looser silhouettes. i think there will be less boho tiered skirts, etc. and things will be cleaner looking. Those cuffed shorts that are like the Johnson shorts are gonna be everywhere- grr, cause i really like those! i think really pretty colors are going to be in- rich blues- rich golds, etc or more of a muted antiquey color scale. here are some pics from the dries van noten spring 2006 line- he is one of the best fashion designers ever:
i love the red with this cream and those shoes- OMG.
i love all these fabrics with the espadrilles and summer belt
i like these baggy surfer pants with the floral shirt and belt
I agree about the looser silhouettes, and the shorts with heels. I also think the layering will continue. I am loving crochet for spring layered with chiffony tops. I also see more emphasis on texture versus colors/patterns. My own color palette will be more pared (sp?) down with lots of ivory, camel, navy, black, and grey.
On the more casual end, i'm forcasting more skinny jeans in an array of colors, stripes, and a lot of layering still. I'm picturing layering with vests too, to create a vintage/beatnik style. I agree about the cuffed shorts, too. (at least those are my forecasts for the trend challenged place I live!)
After browsing a few of the Janurary mags, it doesn't look like there'll be a dramatic change in the trends. Maybe ending of a few, but alot of the stuff will probably be already be in your closet. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like some trends don't really start until after a year. For example, cowboy boots were starting to be "trendy" in 2004, but it didn't go mainstream until 2005 (at least where I live). The Grecian thongs weren't that widely seen last spring, but now places like Target are starting to sell them. Same with shrugs, man they've been EVERYWHERE (this year)! Weird, huh?
i actually heard that pops of red will be big, and i don't know if i was specifically looking for pops of red, but when i looked at the anthro catalog, i felt like i saw a lot of red accents.
also, i think bubble skirts/dresses will be even bigger.
neutrals with metallic prints.
fruit patterns. i noticed a lot of cherries, pineapples, etc...
i like that white will be big because i feel like it is very fresh, but i have a hard time with neutrals because i feel like it washes so many people out. and i love the flowy look, but often adds lbs. to many...
and striped (black/white) will be popular.
these are some of my favorite dress looks...
