is this the vacuum that goes by itself? (sorry i could not think of a better description!)

my mom got one for my sister last year- but sister didn't like it and ended up returning it.

personally, i thought it worked really well and that my sister was just being wierd about it.

BF's friend has one from 2003...it's great if your space isn't ridiculously cluttered, but it's only to maintain the cleanliness in between big vacuuming jobs. It's not strong enough to substitute for a regular vacuum, but that may have changed now.

IIRC, that was one of the reason's my wierd sister returned it. she thought it would vacuum a lot better than what it did. she didn't realize that it wasn't strong enough to do that...

I have one & i think it's great, but I'm also not a clean freak. It picks up the stray kitty hair & I don't have to sweep every single surface every day (I have all floor, no carpet). But I don't think it picks up to the same extent of a regular vacuum cleaner. If you are weird about your house being really really clean, I'd say pass. But I think it's a great "between" option.
