Too early for a real tree???
Permalink Closed

My husband is going to be in Alaska for most of December , so we were going to get our tree this week and decorate it.  Do you think it's too early?  I don't want to have a dead tree on Christmas morning, and I usually like to leave the tree up for a few days after Xmas.

I used to put up my real tree the day after Thanksgiving & took it down the day after Christmas & it was fine. Just make sure you water it ALL OF THE TIME. But nope, I don't think it's too early.

Disclaimer - I haven't put up a real tree is about 7 years, but my mom does the same thing & always has.

No, I don't think it's too early, IF you are really careful when picking out the tree. Try to pick the freshest one you can find (one that stubbornly refuses to drop tons of needles when you test it by thumping it on the ground). Balsam firs tend to hold on to their needles the longest in my experience. HTH!

I don't think it matters.  I would almost think they are all cut already so sooner you get them in water the better.
