I just found out that 2 of the 3 accounting firms (including my favorite) rejected me :( but Deloitte offered me a job!! It's the highest paying one out of the 3, so at least I have a job! I'll be starting sometime next September. Just wanted to let you guys know my news :)


LSUBatgirl, thank you so much for your help with interview prep!! I keep meaning to call you but I keep getting distracted between the flu, work, and school!! Anyways, thanks sooo much!!

Yup, I'm gonna be in NorCal, San Jose to be exact. I really never expected to end up in San Jose, seeing as it's the armpit of California, but the partner who runs the Thailand office is out of the San Jose firm, and if I want to go to Thailand to work for a year or two then I need to be at this office. I'm not planning on living in SJ though, I want to live in or around Palo Alto since it's much nicer and has better shopping (Nordies, Needles Markup, Sephora, etc).

Congrats - I'm always glad to hear some happy news!

My DH said he really liked San Jose - maybe it's not going to be so bad! And if there isn't fabulous shopping around you'll save money....sorry - I'm a little PollyAnna sometimes.

LOL...one of my friends swore that Santa Maria is the armpit of CA, but then she's from Santa Maria.


PS: I think it's so cool that you want to go to Thailand eventually. You'll love it there.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that Santa Maria is an armpit too. Maybe it's the left one and San Jose is the right.

congrats lindsayp!  i used to work in public accounting (the same office that lsubatgirl works in now, actually) and had a really fun time and met some very cool people who are still my friends today (i worked there 7 years). 


i'm sure you will have the same experience - people at big accounting firms, despite what most of the public thinks, are really fun people!  and san jose is actually not that bad - there's that new shopping area, santana row (or something like that), that i've heard about from friends that live in the bay area, that's supposed to be fabulous.
