It was a bit fascinating. The experts swear that 90% of women are wearing their bras too big around and their cup size too small. They said if your straps fall down at all, your bra is too big.
i wear a 36B so should I really wear a 34C? All the women on the show and in the audience went up 1 or 2 cup sizes and down in inches and their boobs were all up around their ears and Oprah was playing with 4 or 5 women's boobs---it was pretty funny.

i missed a good amount of the bra section, but i did hear that 85% of women are wearing the wrong size bra and most wear a smaller bust size and larger cup size. that you should go in and get fitted to find out what size you really wear.
the jean section basically said that darker is better because it's slimming and dressier. shorter women SHOULD NOT wear bootcut, but a straight leg (not tapered). you should wear a pointy toe, not round toe. pay attention to distressing. stacey said that you should have your jeans altered, especially in the butt if it's too loose. she said that MOST people should alter their jeans, just like any other pant. they had four girls who wear a size 10 try different jeans to fit them to show that size ten looks different and there are different needs for the same size. i found it funny that oprah used the phrase muffin top. and mom jeans look like ice cream cones. i'll never look and muffins and ice cream the same way again...
it was good, but overall the main point was to go to NORDSTROM (they did everything) and get fitted for bras and try on several jeans with the specialists because they are trained. side note, there have been times when i've gone to the SA at Nordstrom and they have not been super helpful (but then again i'm not oprah). basically ladies try on a ton of jeans to find your fit and get fitted for a bra.
i find specialty denim and lingerie shops are the best, not department stores (too busy) but that's my $0.02.

I thought it was pretty good. The bra segment was really interesting - I think alot of women get stuck on what they think a C-cup (or whatever) looks like and then they think "Well that can't be me! I'm not that big!". IMO it would be infinitely easier if bra-makers didn't pigeon hole women into the 34-36 B,C trap. Those are practically the only sizes you can find in stores!
The jeans segment was good too. Not super specific, but had some decent info.

I actually went and got re-measured for new bras after her last show, and I am a 32B, not 34B, and LMonet is right, lots of companies (like VS) don't make 32s! So annoying.
Anyway, back to yesterday's show. How about the woman who wore the nursing bra? OMG! And the mom with the short dark hair who got a jean makeover - she looked hot! And Oprah in her spanx? Hilarious!
If anyone needs an excuse to come to DC, a new jean boutique opened where the owner does jean makeovers. Apparently, he's a genius.
I wear a 36D and I am pretty sure I have got the right size because my bras seem to fit properly, doesnt creep up, straps stay put, etc., but I am confused about the instruction about back fat (a problem I don't have with my bra, but just curious). When someone's bra gives them back fat, the instruction says that means that the band size is too big...but wouldn't that mean that a smaller band size would squeeze the fat out even more?
I say this because I recall a lady who sized me at VS tried to get me to try a 34D (along with my properly sized 36D), but I didn't like the way the smaller band left an indention on my back (making it show beneath fitted T's).
Just confused about why it was said that a smaller band would be better for someone concerned about back fat? Is it because the smaller band supposedly stays put in a lower position, or what?
About the jean part, I didn't like that Stacy said boot cuts aren't for people under 5'4. Whatever! I am 5'3 and they do not make my legs look short, I totally think this depends on body type and other factors, not just height across the board. I also thought it was dumb that she said pointy toed shoes only with boot cuts, I think round toes can and do look good.

I thought it was a pretty good show. My BF and I were baffled at some of the sizes of bras they were putting women in. Some women looked so small and were C's and D's, which makes me wonder what I really am. I wear a 34C, wonder if I'm really a 32D?
The jeans segment w/Stacey was pretty good, but could have been more specific. I do agree w/her though that pointy toe shoes look better than round toe shows w/jeans. I usually only wear round toed shoes w/dress pants, because w/jeans, I do feel like my leg gets cut off and my foot looks super small.

yes.

I typically wear a 34C, but just purchased a wacoal 32D and the cups are a little too small... DD? E? maybe it was just the design of that particluar bra...

That segment was good. The problem is: where do these people find 34E, 32DDD, etc sizes??
Bra manufacturers usually don't even do DD, and when they do it's for the large band sizes.
I'm currently wearing 38DD, but I'm pretty sure I should be 36DDD. I tried them on at Lane Bryant, and the 36 was too tight, and the 38 was too loose. I wish they made a 37!!

Now that's weird isn't it? That you can wear a 34C but a D was too small? I'm so baffled I'm gonna go get fitted at Nordstrom.

Detroit, it was a different show, although pretty much all the same things they did over the summer, Just with more people. Your article is great & at least it puts it in writing for me so I don't forget. i was all fired up about this the first time around but forgot about it. This just brought it up all over again!

The same is true for me - I actually spent years trying to fit myself into a 34A, ashamed all the while because I could never fill out the cups! Turns out I actually wear a 32 B (and occasionally a 32 C) - every single 32 B I've tried on so far has fit .
I think that's more complicated then just how big your breasts are though. Where they are positioned on your chest and shape/surface area are also huge factors. So not every pair of 34 C's look like the image of what we think a 34 C should look like, ya know?

yeah - I'm gathering that - I just figured it was a rerun... Stacy London was not on the first one - it must be in my tivo hopper and I just haven't gotten to it yet! maybe I'll watch it tonight - I definitely did not see the skinny jeans segment...

Where is this boutique located at and what is it called? I may have to stop there when I go home to visit my family.
