Mine did the same thing a few days ago (2 messages), but it went away the next time I logged in. No messages I could find. I did accidentally subscribe to a forum not long before I saw the message alert.

It did this to me and I scrolled through all my messages and finally found one from 2008 that was marked as "unread" for some reason. When I opened it up, the new PM message went away.

I am ahving another problem - I can't post a new topic! I have tried several times, and after i Hit the "post" button it sends me back to the thread as it was before I posted!

But it makes me post in a thread which has been already opened, as you can see
