Question about funeral outfit. For the visitation I plan to wear black slacks and black pumps, is it okay to wear a colored shirt or should I stay a dark color? Funeral itself Iam planning to wear this dress but of course with a short sleeve button up cargdian and black heels.  Is it okay? I do not want  to go and buy anything if I do not need to. Thanksry%3D400

I think that the dress with a cardi would be perfectly fine for the funeral. The main idea is to show respect and you are.

And personally I think a colored shirt is also fine for a wake. I usually steer towards a darker color, like a blue, a green or a purple sweater or blouse with a gray or black skirt when i have to attend a wake.

I know I've already told you, but my thoughts are with you. No matter how expected it is, I know that you will miss her.

Colors are fine, so long as you don't go with too cheerful of a color. I wouldn't opt for a bright, warm color, but otherwise I think you are fine.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Color is fine - -especially if it's under a something- -for calling hours. I am sorry to hear about your family's loss.

I don't think the dress is appropriate at all. You'd be better off wearing a muted color like purple or maroon or navy than a black and white vacation print.

Honestly, unfortunately, it looks a little "cheerful" to me. Can you rewear your visitation outfit? Or if you don't want to wear the same entire outfit, you could wear the same black slacks and pumps with the black cardi you mentioned and a solid, dark-color shell underneath.

My thoughts are with you and your family - it's never easy.

I'm sorry for your loss! Sending hugs your way. It is a little cheerful, with the flowers and all, but if you don't have/want to spend money, I would just put on a dark colored cardigan.

Sending you hugs.

I find people are generally uncritical of what others wear to funerals. Everyone is grieving and if it's a close family member probably the last thing on your mind is what you're wearing. I see a lot less black at funerals these days but every family is different. I agree the floral dress is not that subtle, and a dark solid color like brown or gray would work fine if you have anything like that.
