Classic vs Adventurous?
Permalink Closed

D's thread on hair dying made me think about my own style nature.  I think that I lean heavier towards the classic than the adventurous in general.

1)I like solids more than patterns.

2)I like streamlined looks vs something like punk or  couture fashions.

3)I wear delicate jewlery instead of statement pieces.

5)Hair-wise, I'm not a big fan of trendy cuts and prefer a style that doesn't yell "look at  me."

6)And I only wear make up that doesn't call attention to itself (I personally have always felt uncomfortable in something like a bold lip or heavily pigmented eyeshadow.)

But that's only for me.  On other people, I can appreciate a wilder look.  I think people like Diane Kruger are awesome.

What do you lean towards?  Classic or adventurous?

Classic but with a bit of edge. I will wear a fun eyeshadow color or a slightly funky hair style. I like to work in a little interest into my outfits by looking for things with unique shapes (asymmetrical lines, etc.)

I vote both. I wear whatever I feel good in

Lately I've been drawn to more classic pieces, but since I have a pretty adventourous wardrobe to start with (not so much with cut, but with color and pattern), the end effect it a combination of both.

Bold classic. I like to keep things uncomplicated - little to no color, classic shapes, nothing too girly-girl. I don't do frou frou.

I like to be noticed and stand out, but I don't necessarily want the reason for standing out to be obvious. So, I'm not going to be noticed for an edgy haircut or six-inch heels or something crazy loud. But I don't want to look like anyone else.

I definitely have a soft spot for punk/rockabilly detailing. I never met a grommet belt I didn't like and if a bag has a few extra zippers than is strictly necessary that's OK with me. I guess the two leopard print pencil skirts in my closet (snow leopard and traditional leopard) would speak to that.

I can't stand delicate jewelry. I like bold pieces and I fiend for vintage bracelets. Silver only, never gold, which is just another part of the punk aesthetic, I guess.

I'm not afraid of makeup but I tend to stick with a classic or retro look - cake or liquid eyeliner, pale face, shades of beige.
