I loved this episode, even though it was a little slower than some of the other episodes. I think that these slower episodes are setting us up for the bigger, more suspenseful episodes in the future. And I love Jin and Sun's backstory.
Just a few observations (not too many since this episode was more of a set-up than a revelation).
The tail survivors had a radio. Boone had received a radio signal on the radio he found in the Nigerian plane and he heard someone say, "we're the survivors of flight 815." That had to be Ana Lucia and company (ie, AL & Co).
Obviously, AL&Co have encountered The Others (but not Danielle b/c she is the one who refers to the as The Others, while AL&Co just refer to them as 'them' or 'they').
Names we learned last night: Goodwin (man with the wooden spear through him that Jin found) and Mr. Echo/Eko (who seems very similar in his capabilities to Locke).
Jin is picking up an awful lot of English. I don't think that he really speaks English, though b/c if he were to reveal that, now would probably be a good time and so far, he hasn't. I think he's learning as he goes. BTW, he's so freaking hot!
When The Others were walking by Jin and Mr. Echo, we clearly saw at least two sets of legs twice, one in pants and one was bare, dirty legs. Not sure the significance of that. Also, they were all barefoot. Mr. Echo said that they didn't leave a trail. This paired with the whispering that seems to come from all around gives The Others a rather ethereal or 'other worldliness' vibe.
That's all I have at the moment. I'll post more later as I think of things.
Have you heard a "zombie" theory? Apparently there is a way to go to that oceanic website & you get a copy of a script that references the others as zombies. I would really hate it if that were true. And i think the producers throw some theories / ideas - possibly even from their own brainstorming sessions - just to throw us. What do you think? I can find out the code if you want me to, if you haven't seen this, but I have a feeling that you have.
I really :heart" jin. and i had to tear up like a silly girl when sun found her ring.

i love jin and sun! i love the backstory, and yum, is he hot.
nyla (yay, you're here!!) - i forgot about boone hearing that on the plane's radio. nice catch.
i noticed the repeat of the legs of the others, too - weird. and what's up with walt's teddy bear all tied up and being dragged?
the previews for next week look crazy - i hope it really is supposed to be a female that dies, because it seemed like they were trying to make you think it'll be sawyer. we can't have that.
i have a feeling when they make it back (sawyer & co), kate's going to be jealous of sawyer's new relationship with ana lucia. they're totally gonna hook up (a-l & sawyer).
oh - can someone tell me how i know the blonde chick that's with the tail survivors? it's driving me nuts.

I loved last night's ep too. I really like Jin now. When the show first started, I thought he was a bit of a jackass because of the way the backstory portrayed him. But he grew on me.
I wonder how the other tail survivors died, and why they have "trust issues." I wonder if they had someone like Ethan, an Other who infiltrated their camp.
I have a question about Walt. A few episodes ago, Shannon saw/halucinated Walt, dripping wet, and he was saying something to her. In the preview for the next ep (which doesn't air for 3 weeks!!! ARGH!), Shannon sees Walt again, dripping wet. Why is Walt wet? I am starting to suspect that he might be dead/a ghost, and that the Others drowned him.
Also re: the preview... they can't kill Locke! I hope it's not him. If I had to pick a character to bite it, it would be Shannon, just because I like the other characters too much.
I can't wait to see how Jack reacts to Anna Lucia. Three weeks! *twitch*
They did the several week hiatus a few times last year, too. They will rerun the last few episodes over the next few weeks. I think they do it for advertising and timing purposes--sweeps week/month, and season ending in May.
But anyway, laken1, I've heard about the zombie theory (seen the script, etc), but that has pretty much been confirmed as a red herring. There have been other scripts like this (something about a the monster being a magpuri--I know I just butchered the spelling, I can't remember exactly what it was) that have been red herrings as well.
I think they're going to kill off one of the newbies or someone without a lot of backstory, like Rose (although, I'm convinced that she has some kind of esp/sixth sense power going on, so I don't know if they would kill her off). I would be so sad to see one of the original cast members go. I've become attached to them.
I definitely think there is going to be a Jack/Sawyer/Kate triangle (already confirmed by the writers). Ana Lucia is supposed to be part of that dynamic as well, but I really wish she would just get eaten by the monster already. I hate her character.
I cried last night, too, over Sun and her ring. How touching. I love, love, love Jin and Sun.

She was on The Drew Carey show for awhile, that's all I've remembered seeing her in. Hope that helps
Oh, and I can't wait for the new episode in 3 weeks, I feel these last two while good, have been anti-climatic. Did you guys notice Walt's teddy bear being dragged by the others, or was it him? The last set of legs looked like little kid's legs and they were dark, so maybe?

I watched it again and those legs were definitely white, so it's not Walt. Also, I don't recall him having a teddy bear like that. He had a polar bear. I'm more inclined to think that the child might be Alex (Danielle's child), who we aren't sure of her exact age.

Oh, I didn't think about Alex, I bet that's who it is.
I don't know if it was Alex. For some reason, I thought Rousseau said that Alex would be a teenager by now or that she was pregnant at the time she was stranded on the island 16 yrs ago. Does anyone remember that or am I way off on this one?
i think alex was a baby when she got stranded, and she's been there for 16 years, so that would make him/her a teenager. i didn't think of that, bt those legs could totally have been alex's.
and also--that was so weird that the same sets of legs went by twice.

The child with the bear appeared to be an adolescent, from the looks of the legs, not a little kid, so I still think it's possible that it's Alex.
I loved last night's episode! I actually like having a bit of a slower pace for once. The first 2-3 episodes were so great, but there was so much going on that I constantly felt like I was falling behind!
Jin's character has definitely grown on me. I love him. And yes, he is super super hot...when he was getting dressed...whew! Anyway........
I kinda assumed the person carrying the teddy bear was Walt, but the legs did seem white. And, I never really remember Walt being attached to a teddy bear. Seems a little odd for him.
At this point, the producers and actors have done such a great job getting us attached to the characters that I can't imagine which one they'd kill off. All of the original cast members have either a really interesting backstory OR have some sort of unique trait/quality that is helpful to everyone else. I remember thinking that Michael had the least compelling backstory so he might be the next one killed off, but I remember after watching the DVDs that he has construction experience and now the whole Walt thing, so I'm thinking it can't be him. And everyone else has a backstory that we're still confused about (Jack, Locke, Hurley with the numbers), or a current love interest (Charlie/Claire, Jack/Kate/Sawyer/AL, Sun/Jin, Shannon/Sayid). So I can't imagine who out of that group they would kill off. I'm thinking it has to be someone out of the AL group. But, I've been wrong before with this show and I could be wrong again.
