So after a recent bout of major highlights, my hair was left pretty damaged and frizzy. After several trimmings and a trio of Joico conditioners, my hair was damaged, frizzy, and soft. Even with my best products, anti frizz serum, and a super-great blowout, I still had to curl my ends to mask the damage. I decided to try an at-home keratin treatment that I randomly found on folica.com, which had great reviews.
First I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, then blew it dry, then applied the product, which is in a spray bottle, all over the hair. It didn't really smell bad but was a strong scent that sorta burned my eyes. I then blew it out again, and had to straighten with a flat iron to seal in the effect. I did not wash my hair for 24 hours per the instructions. The whole process took little over an hour, but I have long, relatively fine, wavy hair that is easy to blow-dry and straighten.
A week or so later I am really happy with the results. The keratin treatment did not relax my hair or straighten it, but rather, it improved the texture of the hairs themselves. My frizz has subsided and my hair appears healthier. I find myself spending less time blow drying and sometimes just letting it dry naturally because the texture is pretty enough on its own. I also find myself shampooing less often. I am using the sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that the kit came with, in conjunction with the Joico products and I am definitely pleased! I received several compliments on my hair and am putting in less effort overall.
