Somehow the screen of my Canon S410 cracked and is unusable. Of course, my warrantly expired a month ago. Has anyone else encountered this prob. and know if its fixable and/or how much $$?
no help here just sympathy. I recently stepped on my laptop and busted the lcd screen. It was going to cost more to fix it then to get a new one. Oh and only 2 mos after the warranty was over. So Sorry good luck. Maybe try calling best buy to see if they fix those kinds of things. also e mail canon to get an idea of price.
I was in Cuba this summer, when my S400 lens suddenly clouded over. Luckily for me it cleared up, although I'm sure it's not as good as it was before. Oh, well, an excuse to upgrade to the SD550.
I don't know the answer to your question, but since these cameras are going for around $300, it's probably cheaper to buy a new one than to fix the current one. Too bad we live in a world like this
i'm sorry to hear about your problem! i don't have any advice but i wanted to share that i have digital camera, which works fine, but whose batteries like pop out sometimes for no apparent reason from time to time. it's pretty old (at least in the tech world, 2.5 years), and to fix what is basically a perfectly functioning camera, it would cost $150.
i decided just to deal until my bday and hopefully i'll get a new one this year. it may be cheaper to get a new one.
just to give you an estimate on pricing, the same thing happened to my laptop LCD screen... i was under warranty but i wasn't covered for accidents, so i had to pay out of my own pocket ($600.... eek)
One option to look into: Did you buy it on a credit card? I know my MasterCard covers me for an extra year on my warranty stuff. I had to use it when I broke a Palm Pilot, and a friend used it when she wrecked her bike.
