I've had keloid scars on the backs of my ears (from getting my ears pierced) removed. It hurt, but not that bad. I think having scars surgically removed is tricky though because you're basically opening up the skin again and may have another scar because of that.
If your scar is still pink, it's still treatable and you can start treating it with Mederma (I think that's what it's called). I'd go to a dermatologist and she should know what to do and whether or not your scar can be treated right now. I'd be hesitant to get a tattoo over it...on the scars on my knees the skin has a different texture, so I would think that the tattoo would end up looking wrinkly or weird.
Where is your scar and how big is it? And mainly, does it bother you enough to want to do something about it?
I'm actually looking for a cosmetic surgeon to remove a burn scar. I know I will still have a scar after the surgery, but hopefully it will be smaller and less noticeable than the one I have now. I'll keep you updated when I find out more about the procedure.

its not too big, half the size of my pinkie on my hand, but where its at it really bothers me. I really want to do something about it, have wanted to for years and years. and my scar is not bumpy, its flat........
