For the past month or so, my middle toe on my right foot has been noticeably darker/more bluey-purpley than the rest of my toes. I can't remember ever injuring it really, and I don't run or do other toe-inuring exercises regularly. It doesn't hurt, doesn't feel extra cold, and it moves just fine so I don't think it's broken or something.
Do you think I'm OK to just keep ignoring it like I have been? Or should I be worried? I'd feel silly going to the doctor just to say "my toe is darker than I think it should be" but I'm afraid I shouldn't be ignoring it since it hasn't gone away in weeks!

I would get it checked out right away to make sure it is not something serious. Problems related to diabetes affect the extremities. I wouldn't mess around with this.
Do you have any shoes that are snug at that area? Sometimes you can get bruised toes from a particular shoe shape or heel that is too high. Have you noticed an area that is "whiter" at the top? A bruise will stay for a long time but you would be able to see healthy regrowth.
ahhhh I forgot to respond! I always look at ST from things that are a pain to type on, like phone or ipad, so I read responses and forget to actually type something when I get back to the computer.
I made a Dr's appointment, so I'm going to see her on Tuesday. Fingers crossed!
XtinaStyles - I don't wear snug shoes really....I mean, every once in a while, but for everyday I'm usually in ballet flats that are actually pretty loose in the toes. There aren't any "whiter" areas.

In case anyone is interested....I went to the doctor for a checkup last week and showed her my toe while I was there. She looked at it and thinks it's something to do with the vein or the nerves or something? I barely even remember because she thought it was so un-important and not worth worrying about. I was tested for diabetes about 6 months ago and considering I have no other symptoms that would point to diabetes, she really didn't think it was even worth testing again just based on this. Phew!

Congratulations. Isn't is great when the doctor looks at you and wonders why you are worried about something. I love not having anything to worry about!
