I was thinking maybe someday in the future quiting Corporate America and becoming a Personal Trainer. I currently have a BS in Marketing.. And am not really interested in going back to college. I know my personal trainer now does not have a degree.. She just had several of the required certifications. Does anyone have more information on this?
What are my options?
What are these certifications?
Where do you go to get them and what do I have to do?
My BF goes to a NPTI school held at a healthclub in Chicago. The website provided us w/a lot of info. You don't have to go to an actual school either - you can get certified at home, all you have to do is order the materials online and study and pass a certification test. But he chose to go to this school - it's a 6 month program and I/he think you get more benefit out of the classroom and hands on training. He goes 4 nights a week for 4 hours. Half of the day is spent in the classroom and the other half is in the actual gym working out, learning techniques, etc.
He's done in less than a month and then they will help to place him in a job. If you want more info, feel free to pm me!
p.s i know you can find info about other cerifications on the internet. A popular one is A.C.E, but this is one you do at home study for.
One more thing - my boyfriend has a BA in Marketing/PR, but one is not necesarry - they told him when he signed up for the program that all you have to have is a high school diploma or G.E.D.
I've heard ACE is the best personal trainers. AFA is the best for fitness instructors. You could do both to make more $ I know at Bally's you can make $30-$50 a class. As in for only 1 hour. I don't really know too much more info, sorry! But good luck!
