Kate Middleton - let's discuss

I think she is so pretty.  I think it would be cool to leave a somewhat regular job and be a princess or queen for the rest of my life, but I'm sure that's easier said than done.  I think it's interesting that they will not have staff in Kensington Palace -- apparently they're going to do all the housekeeping, shopping, etc. (I find that somewhat hard to believe since it's such a huge place.)  They look genuinely happy.  Looks like William is looking more like his dad than mother now...

these are photos from a lifeboat christening this week - love her look.

I, too, am sure it is easier said than done. I'm sure it is straining to live under such a microscope and she will be compared to Princess Diana, who all of England seemed to have LOVED. Those are some fancy shoes to fill. But, Prince William seems fairly grounded for Royalty (as does his brother too, especially being the younger one and able to get away with more).

William does look more like his dad, but he also looks much older than he is, IMO.

I admire the idea of not having a staff, but I wonder how long that will last. And, I wonder if they are differentiating between a live-in staff and occasional staff (maybe they won't have a maid living with them, but perhaps someone will come in and clean weekly, etc.)

It will be interesting as we get closer to their wedding date to see all the articles about them and whatnot.

I like her. She seems like she loves him and has a good head on her shoulders. She's been around the royal life long enough that she has a good idea of what she's getting herself into by agreeing to marry the future king of Britain. And she seems to have class, not just in her style, but in her actions.

I, personally, would not want this job in a million years. She's never going to be able to do things that we take for granted, like spend the afternoon at the mall or have an impromptu Friday night out with friends or eat at a restaurant privately. Everything is going to be scheduled for her and approved by security. If she has a bad day, it's tabloid fodder for a week. If she gains weight, gets a bad hair cut or wears a less than flattering outfit, there will be photos of it for everyone to criticize freely. No, I like my privacy. I like being able to make mistakes and screw up without everyone and their brother weighting in on it.

I think when they say no staff, they mean no live in staff. I'm sure that they'll have assistants and a cleaning staff who are there during the day. But good for them for resisting a full time staff. A young just married couple needs some privacy. I like that they seem to be putting each other first already in their relationship.

I think she seems so sweet. But I agree with Boots, I could never do this. If my SO was on track to be king I don't think I could ever be with him. It has to be hard - you have to love the guy AND the lifestyle for the relationship to work. Luckily I think she seems like she's ready and willing to lead the royal life, but isn't "reveling" in it if that makes sense. Like cutting down on the staff. And I read there's some big hubub because she wants to just ride a car to her wedding instead of taking the royal horse carriage that is the "tradition."

I do really like seeing what she wears. I think she toes a very fine line of being conservative and "proper" enough to be seen as a future queen, but is still stylish and "young."

I think she's adorable! She seems so down-to-earth and normal, but she always looks so pulled together and chic. I think style-wise, she hits the nail on the head 99% of the time--she dresses age-appropriate, but still like a class act. I'd love to see more American women and young women look to her as a style guide.

I don't know anything about her or them, but you can't fake the kind of happy that I'm seeing in those photos.

And I could totally get used to a royal life. Give me servants and lots of them.

I agree -- they look so happy! It's really sweet. Her "style" isn't my cup of tea at all (I especially wish someone would confiscate her knee-high black boots), but she is clearly doing her best to look appropriate and do justice to her role, and I respect that.
