Wow - how cool that you were invited to Urban Outfitter's HQ!!! So happy for you that your blog is so successful and has afforded opportunities like this! What exactly was the premise of the invite? To pick your brain on social media? Who else went? I read your blog post, but I'm really curious. I provide social media services professionally, and I'm curious if there was an opportunity for you to do that for them? Even if it wasn't a career opportunity, how cool! I bet you were honored and excited to be invited!

thanks D!!! I was so excited and honored to be invited. I, along with about 13 other bloggers, was invited for a special, sneak peek at the new BHLDN bridal launch. They wanted to create buzz around it but previewing it to a select group of bloggers before the website launch, hence all my blog posts about it. We didn't have to blog about it, but obviously I wanted to, it was a great opportunity for my blog and me, since I'm a bride-to-be as well. Given I'm an Anthro blogger and bride -to-be, I think that's the main reason I was invited - they knew my audience would want to hear all about BHLDN. Some of the other bloggers invited were Cupcakes and Cashmere, Oh Joy, A Cup of Jo, and all the rest were wedding bloggers.
I wasn't paid, if that's what you were asking, but they did pay for my entire trip :)
Truly an amazing, experience for me. I'm so humbled at where my blog has taken me. Thanks for the post!!
Very cool. You have done so well with your blog. I'm envious of your success *queue the stylethread crickets*
It's nice to see success come to someone doing something they love, and that you have been recognized by Anthro for promoting their brand. Keep up the good work!

Thanks ladies!! It really was an amazing opportunity, and I've got some other projects with Anthro in the works. They were slow-going when it came to supporting blogs, but I've cultivated a great relationship with them, and I think they've realized the importance of social media. I'm so excited about where this all could take me. Never even knew it was possible :)

Asked and answered - you didn't know what was possible and neither did they, at first - that seems fair. "New media" like blogs and social networking are still relatively untested territory for business marketers. Also the industry is SO entrenched with the mainstream fashion press that it's understandable they will be slow to adapt to anything coming along and upsetting that balance.
How exciting to be invited to do this! I'm so proud to "know" you!
