I was in the blackout. The power went out in my building during my lunch hour. We got our power back a little over half an hour ago. My bosses stopped me on the street as I was walking back from lunch and told me what had happened. They'd walked down 22 flights of stairs to get out of the building. Thankfully my cell phone still worked, so I was able to call my BF and my family to tell them I was fine and everything. BF also lost power over in Century City but he got his back about 45 minutes later.

My bosses have turned on the local news so we can get more info. So far it sounds like someone accidentally cut the wrong cables at a transformer or something like that.

yikes about cutting the wrong cord!!  glad you're okay LK!!  my coworker just called in... he went home for lunch & his car is trapped in the parking garage so he never came back.  sounds like power is back on everywhere though... i think he may be taking advantage!!

i ran over to the beauty supply at the farmer's market on 3rd & la brea at lunch time, and they were saying that their sherman oaks store had just called and told them that they lost power and that it was continuing on to downtown.  they said the farmer's market was currently operating on a generator.  then i stopped by my own house right near there and it looked like there had been a power interruption, but it was already back on (all my clocks were blinking).  anyway, it doesn't seem like anything too major.
