Sorry for another UPS rant. Allow me to share a little story with you:
--> MONDAY: I order some greenies for my dogs from an online retailer, using that stupid Yahoo checkout.
--> WEDNESDAY: I check the status and notice that stupid Yahoo checkout means the package is going to my old address (I inputed my new address for shipping when I bought it, but apparently they used Yahoo's data). I call UPS to change the address. Call #1 -- they say, no problem, your address is changed, someone from your local facility will call you back within 1 hour to confirm. Call #2 -- After two hours, I call the 1800# again. They say, "oh, no one needed to call you back, your address is changed, and your package will be delivered to your correct address tomorrow." I read them my correct address TWICE and they say, "yep, that's where the package is going.
-->FRIDAY: I get home, still no package. I look up the status online, and it says "Attempted delivery, package refused, return to sender." I am FUMING, b/c the address was supposed to be changed. I call 1800# again (call#3), and they say "we're sorry, a supervisor from your local facility will call you within an hour to get this sorted out. Two hours later, no call. I call again (call #4), and they say the local facility is "researching the matter" and someone will definitely call me back that night. Of course, no one calls.
-->TODAY: I call again (call #5), to figure out what's going on. Halfway through the call, the line goes dead (UPS's, not mine). I call back (Call #6). This time, the girl helps me file a complaint, and says "hopefully" they won't return the package to the sender, and that someone will definitely call me on TUESDAY. I say I don't get home until about 4 on Tuesday, and she says, "Oh, they will leave you a message. Hopefully they won't return it to the sender." I asked for the local place's phone number, and she claims they do not have it.
WTH? It is the same receiving location (Phoenix, AZ) and my new address is only about 15 miles from the old one. WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT?!?
I hate UPS.

I got mad just reading this. I have never, EVER had a positive experience with UPS. I've had slips suddenly show up on my door, saying "final attempt" (basically, too late, screw you!) when I never got slips for the 1st or 2nd attempts........I've had important documents that I paid extra for so that they would arrive by 8am next business day, and the papers show up 2 days later (and when I called, they insisted that the driver had tried calling me when he "showed up at the scheduled 8am delivery time" -- NO, he didn't -- I had actually waited by the phone......)
I hate UPS too. I think I'm the only person I know who has never had a negative experience with them (I consider myself lucky), but if I had a nickel for every story like this I've heard...
So many people must file complaints with UPS everyday, you'd think they'd do something about it already.
i, too, hate UPS. we got back from our honeymoon to find a humongeous box sitting outside the door to our apartment. if you're not home to receive a package, they're supposed to deliver it to the business office in our complex or leave you a note that they'll try again. but no, they left it outside our door. it had been sitting there for FOUR DAYS. so i can totally commiserate with you and their terrible service.
Here's an UPDATE for you all: they returned my package to the sender. After all that. I finally talked to someone at my local center, who said she was "really sorry." She also said "We don't always meet our own standards for service." WTF????
