Here's the down low...I work for a small catering co. Currently we supply a daily breakfast/lunch/snack to a training facility of a large oil company, as well as other smaller jobs. We are currently in debate over a price increase with the company (we give them good value for the price that they pay, but we only break even and not profit from it) and they are refusing it. We haven't had a price increase in almost 3 years and have always fulfilled requests and changes they have wanted without increasing prices in the past. But we feel an increase is warranted b/c of positive changes we have made and good feedback we have recieved. So my boss is saying if they do not give us the increase she is cancelling our contract with them. Cancelling the contract would mean that I wouldn't be needed full time b/c the smaller jobs are not frequent enough to keep me full time. I can't just work part time so I'd lose my job.
I love my job. I would really really hate to lose my job. I've worked really hard to get in my current postion. I haven't had to look for work in 4 years. I don't even know what to do anymore. I'm freaking out!!!
don't panic, bc, it'll be ok. you know why? because you are damn good at your job (i have always thought so) and worst case scenario you will be damn good at your job at another place. you are so damn good at your job you could even open up your own damn catering business and do just fine, thank you very much.
in the meantime, take a deep breath, try not to jump to conclusions and just wait it out. oh and keep us updated!!
I'm sorry . I agree with what Karina said though. Are there any other catering companies that you know of that are hiring? Maybe a larger company? I think the idea of starting your own business is also great if you have the resources and the time.

I am sorry. Just start thinking of a backup plan, evaluate your savings, etc. I am sure you are great, though, and you will find somewhere else if you have to. I hope it works out!

I agree with everyone else, go out on your own if you have the time. I am sure since you have been at your current job for so long, you have likely learned the business. I hope it all works out for you, whatever happens.
