Kim France writing for Slate
Permalink Closed

I found this article, I thought you guys might be interested. I don't know if she is a guest or a permanent addition. I'm still so curious to know why she left/got fired(?).

Did anyone read the recent issue of Lucky with Holly Brandon as editor? Thoughts?

They did away with Andrea Linnet's style sketch at the back. That was my favorite feature. I don't know, I wasn't a huge fan of the magazine, but I liked Kim France. I think there was something comforting about her presence, since I grew up with Sassy.

just got done reading the latest issue, but don't really have an opinion on the new editor. i hope she can help lucky bring back more subscribers, i'd hate for it to close up shop like so many of my other favorite magazines have been doing. i think more variety in prices would do a lot to attract more readers, since this is a recession-type economy right now. doubt there's many people who are spending $500 on a dress these days.
i actually liked the new article on the last page, "the style icon". i think it has potential to be great.

ps. from reading the article, i get the feeling kim is sad that she's not working at lucky anymore and therefore not getting all the freebies and good deals she used to get. jmo

Me too.  On the otherhand, she said she would be willing to shell out $140 for some shampoo, so I'm not feeling too bad for her right now.

I didn't notice too many changes.  I liked the style icon section at the back better than Andrea Linnet's usual page.  Maybe because I don't share Andrea's style and rarely ever saw anything I liked there.  I did miss the week worth of wardrobe article so I hope they bring that back.

I really hated the idea of Kim France being gone, but having said that - I really enjoyed the new issue - course it WAS a 10 year retrospective and I liked the way they did it. We'll see what next month holds....

I liked the new issue, but mostly because I liked the 10 Years of Lucky feature. It was fun looking back over the past decade. It was my first decade of true "adulthood," so it was cool to remember my past ten years as I was looking at the events they were talking about.
