Christmas Cookie Recipe Exchange

I thought it might be fun to start a Christmas Cookie Recipe Exchnage here now that it's November.  Post your favorite Christmas Cookies below.  And if you use a recipe this season, let everyone know how it turned out!

My favorite Christmas cookie is a crinkle molassess cookie.  I wait all year for them.  Sometimes I'll glaze them with a light coat of royal icing.

CRINKLED MOLASSES COOKIE
  • 3/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups  flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup white sugar (in a separate bowl to roll cookie in)
  1. Mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and egg. Stir in the molasses. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger; blend into the molasses mixture. Cover, and chill dough for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough into walnut sized balls (I use a small icecream scoop then roll in a ball), and roll them in the bowl of white sugar. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.Flatten slightly using a damp shot glass.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until tops are cracked.

I love molassas cookies. I will have to try these. I do have some favorite holiday cookies that I'll have to dig out and post. I think I will actually make some cookies this year.

yum - I love molassas cookies! I have to dig up my "Grandma Mac's sour milk cookies" (my great grandmother's recipe.) They're wonderful and almost cake-like. You sour the milk with vinegar and sprinkle sugar on top, I put tons of vanilla in them too.

I have an uncle that is severly lactose intolerant, and I want to try to make them with almond milk this year. I'll make a point to post the recipes...
