Anyone read any good ones lately? I'm reading the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo now and may suggest that trilogy, but am looking for other reads as well. I'm posting this in the general chat section too to get more traffic. Thanks!
I just finished Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova (author of The Historian) and while it wasn't a "wow, blow me away" book, I think it would work really well for a book club. It's interesting, (somewhat) well-written, and has a lot to talk about in terms of the art history that's included.

Are you guys a general sort of book club or do you have specific themes?
Some book s I really liked that might work in a book club setting:
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. It's kind of a mystery/thriller/sci fi/love story sort of novel, but take that with the knowledge that the same author wrote Remains of the Day. I just love the attention to detail Ishiguro puts in every page.
The Curious Case of the Dog In The Night-Time by Mark Haddon. It's narrated by an autistic teenage boy who was accused of murdering a dog and decides that he must discover the real murderer. It's more about exploring the life of a functioning autistic teenager than a thriller. It's funny, moving and very eyeopening (at least to me.)
Possession by A.S. Byatt. Two academics piece together the story of a love affair between 2 Victorian writers while maybe falling in love themselves. It won the Booker prize in the 90's (which is when I first read it.) I've read it a few times since and still love it.
Thanks, girls. All of these books sound good. Relrel, here is a list of some of the books we've read in the past:
Loving Frank The Hunger Games Catching Fire Year of Wonders The Help The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry Have a Little Faith The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society
And I'm pretty sure they read The Curious Case of the Dog in the Nighttime before I joined. It's a group of American women living overseas whose spouses work for the American Consolate, so we have a wide variety of personalities, interests, and age-ranges - and thus no limit on the subject matter of the book. We're meeting tomorrow night to develop the list and we are each asked to bring a few suggestions. I'll post our final list if anyone is interested.
