No sure which one of you ladies posted months ago about DOMINO but the september issue has alas arrived!Have not been through it yet......But if you subscribed it should be at your doorstep anyday now!
I got mine yesterday. I haven't had time to read it b/c I forgot to bring it back with me to my mom's house. I really liked the first issue, I hope the second one is just as good.
Excellent! I'm anxious to see the second issue. I really liked the first issue for the most part, but what bugged me was that in the letter from the editor (or whatever) she said they were aiming to create a magazine with affordable stuff for the home, and I thought "GREAT!" and then it seemed like everything they showed was ridiculously overpriced. Kind of annoying. But I liked the layout, and loved the ideas, so I'll probably keep buying it, just like I do with Lucky!
Oh I'm excited about it. I will have to check it out. I didn't know it was already out and circulating. I did a survey about it a month ago on what the cover should look like.
Yes, there were beautiful things.. yes, the spreads were amazing and had me drooling but also had the creative machine going. But checking out the Domino forum, it seemed like alot of readers were complaining about the price of the items in the catalog. I have to admit shopping for your home is definitely very different than shopping for your closet. Just the the frequency and volume of purchases (not to mention budget) is very different...
I guess I wanted it to be like "YES" how I am with Lucky and possibly go out and buy the things I want. Instead I'm like "ooh" and keep the idea in my head until I find something cheaper. I guess I wish I could just impulse buy for home as I do for my wardrobe!
The thing I didn't like the most about this issue was IONE SKYE! Her home (though it perfectly fits the image and demographic of Domino) was featured in, I think... and am pretty sure, Vogue less than two years ago.
I received my new issue yesterday. While i loved the first issue, this one has pretty much been handed off to the office staff already. I liked a few of the articles but nothing seemed funky or vintage or creative unless you have tons of money. Everything was way overpriced.
i really enjoy the decorating section of Budget Living so much more.
i will not resubscribe if this is how all of the issues will be.
