What are you doing for the big weekend?

So what's every one doing for the 4th?  I'm going to see a local fireworks show on Friday night.  It's usually on the 3rd but they switched this year for some unknown reason (thankfully I called ahead or else we'd all be sitting on our chairs-in-a-bag Saturday night wondering where the hell the BOOM is???)

My youngest brother throws a huge party on the 4th so I'll spend a good portion of my day Sunday helping him get it ready.  He's just learning how to cook/grill, so while I don't have to do all of the actual cooking this year, I'll have to standby and assist him. Luckily I'm also in charge of making the Sangria again this year.  Last year his MIL tried to hold some sort of one sided competition with me.  blahblah.gif She went around to everyone telling them that my Sangria was awful and they should drink the store bought one she brought (why anyone would prefer a $5 jug of premade cocktails is beyond me.)  This year I decided not to let her get to me.  It just means more of the good stuff for my side of the family!

I plan on having a GREAT weekend this 4th!  Hope you all do too.

I'm headed to Lake Michigan with family and friends tonight through Monday. This is our third year going and it is always fun. Boats, waves, walks on the beach, sun, great food and conversation. I can not wait for work to end so I can get it started.

I, too, will be taking Sangria. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Hanging out with the in-laws. Food, pool, kids, fireworks, food.  Have fun, be safe.

The plan is for BF and I go to visit his parents. They always celebrate more than my family for holidays so I hate to say it but...it's a lot more fun there! They live on a lake so we can boat, swim, etc. and there is a boat parade on July 4!

I hope it works out...we were going to bring my dog, but my car broke down and BF's isn't big enough for her. So I'm scrambling to find someone who can watch her (she's diabetic and only ONE kennel will give her shots, but they are booked).

My family is coming to visit that I haven't seen in a year and a half. We are having a bbq and going to see the fireworks in downtown Houston.

Everyone have a fun and safe weekend!

I really hate July 4th. It's a command performance at my in-laws and we always have 3-4 better invitations that we have to reject.

My in-laws live in some hills over a golf course and they can see fireworks from their backyard. They love to impress people with their nouveau riche tackiness, so every year my MIL tells us to bring all our friends for the 4th. Every year, they get disappointed because we didn't bring anyone. Uhm, I don't want to be here, why would I make someone else suffer?

So we'll go over there for a few hours, and then leave around sunset when my BIL's sleazy friends start showing up to get plastered and let their little children run around unsupervised.

It's SUPPOSED TO rain the ENTIRE weekend, so NOT sure what I'll be doing. :(

Thank you, Boots. I'm sure I can return the favor someday.

LOL. Well if you invited me Su, I'd go with.

Sounds like most of you have some lovely plans! GD - wish I was at Lake Michigan! Su - my sympathies...

Me, I'm moving, and I have way too much stuff. I'm tired. And my internet provider screwed up my installation appt. for yesterday, so now I have to go to a coffee shop to work on Tuesday until they get it hooked up cry

ETA: I also waged an epic battle against the spam bots that visited stylethread late last night.  I changed some settings, so I'm hoping I nipped the security issue in the bud so we dont have to deal with that again.

Su, I love how you "tell it like it is." biggrin

I'm celebrating the 4th in Boston for the first time. I'm gonna hang out with Ex-H (we're still friends) and probably go somewhere for lunch? Ice cream? Then go down to the river at night to watch the 'works.
