Okay, I've had it with my nose. I've always hated it, it doesn't fit my face and it doesn't function properly, either (breathing issues from a break a long time ago). So, I decided that it's about time to take the plunge and get a rhinoplasty, hopefully by the end of this year.
But, I'm completely lost on how to find a good surgeon. I know word-of-mouth is good and that they should be board certified but other than that, what should I look for? And getting people to fess up to a rhinoplasty for word-of-mouth advertising seems unlikely.
Not in Chicago. I'm in Lancaster, near Philly and Baltimore. But Lancaster (and Hershey) have highly ranked surgeons based on what I've heard so far, but I'd like to know more about how to pick the right one. I'm just in the beginning stages of searching, but I am so ready to get this done. I've wanted it done since I was 14.
Also, is there anything else about the procedure you can tell me? What was it like, recovery, etc? Thanks!

If you go to Facebook & search Pearl Recovery Retreat - it's my cousin's business: recovery after plastic surgeries, they've been in the business for quite a long while. We're in LA, however, i suggest you get a consult/ask her what to look for, maybe any referrals for out of state? Best of luck!
You can search by city and see doctors in the area, and by procedure to see what people have said about their procedures and recovery. Not an end-all-be-all site, but it may provide you with some leads to check into further.

Maybe check local publications - for example, every year Cincinnati magazine publishes a list of the best doctors in the area. They're voted for by other doctors or by hospitals, I believe. A magazine in Louisville does it too. Maybe a magazine or newspaper near you does something similar?
