So, I've come to the conclusion that I need to find another means of funding my grad school education. I cannot take out any more student loans, unless I want payments the size of mortgage.
I have a few ideas of how to get more funding (and if anyone here has any ideas, please let me know!), but I need to withdraw from school for the next semester and possibly for the next year so I can save some money to go back. This isn't a problem with the school; I can withdraw for two years without having to reapply and I won't lose any credits.
But, how do I approach this on my resume? Obviously, I'm not going to be currently pursuing the degree, but I am planning to go back and finish as soon as I can. How can I convey this without looking like an idiot? I don't really want to discuss my financial situation on my resume, but I don't want to look like a flake who doesn't finish what they start.
I would simple list the degree you are seeking, with your anticipated graduation date.
Master of Fine Arts, fashion merchandizing, this school - anticipated graduation, April 2012.
Your next employer may or may not help out with the degree, so that is an option. Otherwise I'd look for scholarships and other funding. Until then, save, save, save.
I will say that when DH and I were getting approved for a mortgage, the bank told us that since everyone has student loans, they only pay attention to whether or not we were current with them... So, that's just something to keep in mind as you consider your funding. It won't be fun to pay off, but won't hurt you to have.
