Does anyone own Ethan Allen furniture? I'm interested in the chair below, but I've never bought anything from EA. Does anyone have any experience with their furniture?

Thanks!

We researched them and went to see their stuff when we were looking for our leather chairs last year.  IMO, they're overpriced for what they offer, and they didn't have nearly as much information or pride in the construction of their pieces than other furniture companies.  I think they rely on the fact that they've been around awhile and that people know their name more than they should.

I also don't think there is anything so unique about that chair that you couldn't find something similar for less elsewhere.  We bought our leather chairs at Thomasville, and were very impressed with their pricing, service, and quality.  I'd also search your area to see what local furniture shops you have - even though some things may be out of your price range, it would provide you with alot of comparables at the very least.  We were pleasantly surprised by our local places, and found that the price of an item is not necessarily indicative of it's quality.  You'll probably also find some special pricing for Memorial Day ....

Agree with the above. Not as special as its price would imply. I grant you it's almost as expensive and labor-intensive to make a chair as it is a sofa, but that's not a style that's so distinctive you couldn't find it somewhere.

I fall on my knees and thank whoever is listening for having a custom shop that will make pretty much anything if I bring in a picture. For 60% of the price I'd pay at retail.

Thanks elle & su! I figured the quality didn't justify the price. I should have said this in my initial post - the part I love about the chair is the nailhead trim, although I'm sure if I look elsewhere I can find a similar chair.

Definitely look elswhere - nailhead trim is a hot trend right now, and lots of places are doing it!  You could always add it yourself to a less expensive chair, if you found one w/out it.
