I went and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last night at midnight at IMAX - it was sooo good.  You guys have to go see it.  I love Johnny Depp even more, if that's possible, after seeing this - he's great in it.  Anyhow, just wanted to let everyone know to definitely go see it!

I'm scared to see it because in my eyes, Gene Wilder IS Willy Wonka.  Seeing Johnny Depp in the previews just creeps me out.

ETA: I was scrolling through the reviews for the old movie when I saw this:

Gene Wilder Rocks the Shiz-Niz.....
No one can replace gene wilder, especialy johnny depp. (The Bast***.) I think its sad that the youth who see the new version will think about johny depp every time Willy Wonka is mentioned. I hate mankind.

hehe. I love Johnny Depp, but I kinda agree.  I'm sad that this is the one reason I dont want to see the movie, because I love Tim Burton, love Johnny Depp, love the movie, love candy... just not Depp as Wonka.

Just my two cents - but Johnny Depp is phenomenal as Willy Wonka.  I love the original too, but to be honest, Gene Wilder kinda creeped me out as Willy Wonka.  I don't know - I really enjoyed this and thought Depp did a great job.

I'll probably go see it on Monday after the weekend crowd dies out.  I love the original but can't wait to see the Tim Burton version, love him and Johnny Depp

I can't wait to see this. I must see it on IMAX.  I"ll post a review after I do so, but I'm sure I'll love it. Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, it's got to be good!

i saw it this weekend (non-imax). it was really cool but would have been cooler in imax.

i wish they sold the chocolate that was in the movie. i was really craving it! but i think i was more interested in the chocolates from the original. i think there were more varieties in the gene wilder version.

this was the first time I ever saw a movie in the Imax and I think I saw too much detail. I saw all the make-up they put on the kids ( A LOT) very good and I saw Johnny's contacts lining a lot of times too!

That's so funny Tati - my bf and I kept saying how we could see Johnny's contacts too!

Haven't seen it, but The Soup (or maybe it was Best Week Ever?) did a really funny comparison of Wonka as Michael Jackson.
