so after some speculation over in the General section (see my "mini-victory" thread), and after esquiress's comments, i felt compelled to share my story... so i walked into this Forever 21 type of store (u know, cheap boutique, super trendy, off brands, etc.) looking for some good deals & boy did i find them! i stumbled upon their denim table & to my astonishment they actually carried name brands! i'm talking COH, 7, TR, and some brand called "Can Kan" (whose pockets i recognized, but not the name.... weird). so i flip open a pair to check the price & the Crystal A pockets were $89!!! as i excitedly yelled to my coworker, the store manager came over & from that point forward was glued to my side. every pair of jeans i picked up he told me were the #1 sellers in the store. i believed him the first time, but then i just figured he was trying to make a sale... not a crime, so ok. so then i ask him for a 3 in one of the Can Kan pairs (they were really cute, despite the ambiguous name) & he insisted i was a 5. he wouldn't even hand the 3 over even tho i told him i had a closet full of 26's (3=26, but i'm sure u all know that) and i know my size! luckily he was out of 5's so he gave me the 3 but in a "well, if u wanna try them, but they aren't gonna fit" sort of way. he then proceeded to throw every pair of jeans in the store into my arms & then load me into a fitting room (w/ mirror on the outside... i've worked in retail, i know why they do this). so i eagerly tried on the 7's and to my astonishment they were TOO SHORT!! i'm 5'5" and have NEVER had any pair of name brand jeans be too short on me! if anything they are usually way too long! the SA & SM (store manager) didn't seem phased by the shortness which i thought was weird. so then i tried a pair of Can Kan's & they were too short... suffice it to say i tried on several pairs of jeans & they were all too short. one of the SA's tried to tell me to let out the hem. i was like, "are u crazy?? people pay $20 to have their jeans hemmed w/ the original hem, why would i want to get rid of it??". so then i finally found a pair (of Can Kan's) that was long enough.. they were the ones i had originally picked up, the size THREE. they were cute but i'm a part of the shopping ban so as much as i wanted them (for only $59!!) i reigned myself in & put them back. i felt really bad for the SA's tho cuz they were so helpful (and the SM too, even tho he was pretty overbearing) so i told the SM i was gonna go look for shoes & if i couldn't find any i would come back (total lie, but made me feel a little better about leaving them high & dry). then the SM responds w/ "well, they won't be here when u come back, they are the only pair & our #1 seller". so then i said "well, if they aren't here when i come back then i guess it wasnt' meant to be". (i should have said "what do u care, a sale is a sale!") and i even talked my friend out of her pair too. after we left i got to thinking & realized that there is no way those jeans (the brands i recognized anyways) can be real! there was just something off & honestly how can u sell $200 for $89?? it just doesn't happen. after posting about the store in my "mini-victory" thread, esquiress confirmed my suspicions... they are FAKE!! so glad i didn't buy & u shouldn't either!! steer clear of Attitudes! (sorry it took so long to get that out!)
amen to that--and by the way i can't stand pushy sa's--it's one thing to try to make a sale, it's quite another to try to shame someone into buying something. honestly, some people!
oh and crystal--why do they put the mirrors on the outside of dressing rooms??

I want to know too since i never worked retail. I'm assuming its a sales technique to get you out of the room to try and talk you into something (like adding pressure)

yep, LSU nailed it... it's to force the person out of the fitting room so the SA can barrage u w/ compliments. actually it is quite helpful for the type of people who take one thing into the fitting room, try it on, & then not like it & decide to leave. if they are forced to come out of the room the SA might be able to recommend something that will fit/look better & that the person just didn't know existed. suggestive selling is one thing, but telling someone they look like jessica alba in everything they try on is totally different & something i never did. i wouldn't normally tell someone something looked bad (i mean i wouldn't say "that looks bad", i would instead say "maybe the COH would fit u better" or stuff like that) but u can usually tell if a person isn't into what they have on so u can agree w/ them if they feel that way. these people knew i hated what i had on but told me it looked great, which i absolutely hate!
