Yes, because all they do is act and entertain. I honestly don't think it requires a huge amount of intelligence to read a script and pretend you're something else. That's just me though.

I just find it so irritating that these people are put on a pedestal. People are so starstruck these days it's kind of disgusting. This is their JOB they should not get special treatment; you'd think their million dollar+ salaries would be enough to keep them happy.

On top of all the money they make, designers give stars FREE stuff...excuse me, like they need it!

to me it's almost like a chicken/egg argument. if our culture weren't so obssessed with celebrity then celebrities wouldn't feel so entitled to certain things. mags like star, us, etc. just perpetuate the cycle.

also i do think it's important to distinguish b/t actors and celebrities. there are lots of people who just want to act (or be athletes, etc.), but the byproduct of being good at your job is that you become a celebrity. while there are other people (paris hilton) who just want fame for the sake of fame.

and i actually do think it is hard/takes a tremendous amount of talent to be a good actor. and while i don't necessarily think celebs should get free stuff. i understand why designers do. the return on it (in terms of sales and free pr) is so great it's hard not to.

I absoutly hate this. It is so annoying. I am not saying all are bad but most I am just sick of. Also I am tired of these rich kids making shows. I was watching a preview for one on FOX where it is rich kids getting cut off form daddy. I personally can care less. I think they should learn how the majority of society lives, and that it is stupid to make it into a T.V. show. Just like " I wanna be a hilton." It is just mind boggling to see what our society has turned in to.

I think it takes talent and skill, but I don't think I would call it hard.

It is not so much celebrities, but rich people who are treated like royalty. I saw it all the time in high school w/ "friends", the crap these kids would do and they knew nothing was going to happend to them. If by some chance something did happen it was going to be easily fixed by their parents and their money.

i've grown up in the theatre world and trust me- it takes a lot of talent and hard work for those people to get where they are. granted some are given really great breaks because of who they know or family ties to the business- but for the most part- it is hard work.

Bex: True, it does take hard work, but then again, to be succesful at most careers takes hard work, long hours, sacrifice etc... I was a musical theatre major, and yes, it kicked my butt...but now that I am a mom and am working a day job, it's just a new kind of difficulty. I certainly don't think actors ought to receive special treatment....their rewards is found in their paycheck and sense of accomplishment.

That was my point too. It is just not actors that work hard to get where they are. Contruction workers on the highways work pretty hard. Brain surgeons work pretty hard. High rise window washers work pretty hard. Garbage men work pretty hard.
