Saw this last night...it was WAY better than I expected. It was very smart, and very dark -- nothing like any of the other Batman movies. Christian Bale was great and Katie Holmes was...tolerable. I highly recommend it -- especially if you didn't like Spiderman and those flashy comic-book movies. It was directed by Christopher Nolan, who also did Memento and officially rocks my socks.

I just saw this last night. It was AMAZING. I was kinda bummed because we only got to the theater 30 minutes EARLY and had to sit close to the front than we like. It was so loud!!! Anyway, I just loved it. It was smart and exciting. Definitly the best new movie I've seen in a long time. I can't wait to watch it again! Oh- Christian Bale was awesome. Katie Holmes- eh. Anyone could have played her role and done just as well. I didn't even realize that Gary Oldman and Liam Neeson were in the movie! Nice surprise to see Gary Oldman.
I loved this movie! Christian Bale is a great Batman/Bruce Wayne. We saw it on Thursday and then we went again today to see it on IMAX. I think that so far it's the best movie of the summer.
I saw this movie on the opening night because we were nearby the movie theater and my nephews kinda wanted to see it, so I thought, "Why not?" Man, I was impressed!! I'm not into shallow movies, so I wasn't looking forward to it. But this wasn't just an action flick, it really portrayed Bruce Wayne as a deep character who truly believed in justice. Call me a weirdo, but that's what gets me in movies. There was a true plot and I'm actually hoping for a sequel (if it's directed and written by the same person).
i loved it too! i saw it in an imax theater and was really impressed. you see why bruce wayne decides to become batman and it actually makes sense -- a rarity in the summer blockbuster. christian bale is such a great choice too. i really hope they do make a sequel -- that little clue at the end about who the next villain will be made me just want to see the sequel immediately.
I haven't seen it yet, but I heard on the radio that they are going to do a sequel, but Warner Bros does not want Katie Holmes anywhere near the next one. Sounds okay by me. As long as I get to see Christian Bale - I'v eloved him since I saw him dance in Newsies and Swing Kids, swoon!

My husband told me that there are supposed to be two more movies with Christian Bale, directed by Chris Nolan. I can't wait! I'm curious as to who they'll cast as the Joker. I really can't imagine anyone pulling it off better than Jack Nicholson did.
that is good news about chris nolan and christian bale staying on! i can't picture anyone else playing the joker besides jack nicholson either...but since they did such a great job on this one it should turn out to be someone equally good.
i saw this today with my bf and one of his friends. his friend actually saw it last night and went back again today cause he loved it so much! we all thought it was fantastic. I LOVE, love, love Christian Bale. Have since Empire of the Sun. I think one of the reasons it was so good was that the bad guys were actually scary, not ridiculous cartoons like in the other batman movies. we were trying to figure out the story with the sequels too. it seems totally ridiculous to re-make all the pieces of a pre-existing franchise, but the way the movie ended, it definitely seemed like they were setting that up. and yes, please lose KH in any future ones!

I heard this also on E! and its all because of TC!
So rumour has it that the Joker in the next movie will either be....Adrien Brody or Sean Penn. Could they have more awesome choices? I personally love Sean Penn, but I have much love for him in anything.
Anyway, I loooved Batman Begins. Christian Bale is stunning. It was such a great movie.
I just saw this movie over the weekend and loved it! What a great set up to the character - I forget how much I love Christian Bale. And I think Adrien Brody or Sean Penn would be awesome as the Joker. If so, these Batman movies have some great casts (Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Wilkinson, etc).

I think that it would be totally ironic for Sean "I have no sense of humor even though I played Jeff Spicoli" Penn play the Joker. I really can't see him agreeing to do it. I would love to see Adrien Brody in the role.

Did I hear someone mention Newsies? Seriously - could there have been a better adolescent coming-of-age movie? (the movie caused my coming-of-age ) hot, hot, hot!
I went this weekend kicking & screaming and LOVED it. I can't claim to have seen christian bale in anything else, but dang it he is hot & was great great great. I'd love to see it again. IMAX would rock.

I *loved* this movie! Christian Bale made an excellent Batman, and I was very impressed with his Bruce Wayne too. I think one problem with the previous Batman movies is that the actors could do either Batman *or* Bruce Wayne well, but not both. The cast was great, I didn't know Gary Oldman was going to be in it. Katie Holmes was the weak link in the cast. Her performance was quite average. Rachel could have been played better by Kiera Knightly (sp?). She can do an American accent really well.
Bale is contracted for two more films. I love Adrian Brody, so it would be great to see him as the Joker. I heard that Crispin Glover is another possible Joker.
I loved this movie. I saw it last night at the IMAX theater. I definitely recommend seeing it.
I agree that Katie Holmes was the weakest link in this movie and that there would have been way better choices out there. Was that little boy in the red shirt that Rachel found being set up to be the younger version of Robin? They didn't really expound upon it, but he appeared in the story more than once and it seems like there was a reason for it. I can't wait to see the next installment of this!

I really liked this too. I wondered if that boy was Robin too. I am curious about the next installment too.
