I was wondering where everyone was going to be vacationing this season?
I am thinking no vacation and just stay home when my parents go away. At 23 sometimes it is nice to pretend you are adult and live alone for @ least a week.
My parnetns are going a couple places and I may go w/ them to cottage in Bar Harbour, Maine. They are going the week of July 4th, which is my bf's bday. I am trying to convince him to go w/ us, but I don't know if he will.
What about you?

This summer we have a lot of stuff to do around here, so we're just making a few quick trips out to Cali to see family and another trip out to Cali (San Diego) for a mini-vacation. Would LOVE to throw a weekend in Vegas in sometime.
No where - I am sad. Since I've moved away from my family, all of my extended weekends now consist of going home to visit, which quite frankly I don't consider vacation. We have decided to take all our excess $$ this year & pay down all of our bills (both have some CC debt from divorce situations)- as a matter of fact I paid 2 big bills off this week, so that was a relief, although not fun. But we just decided to go to the very rustic Mt. Ida, Arkansas to dig for crystals during the Thanksgiving holidays, so I'm really kind of excited about that. Then next summer we can go somewhere cool & not worry about $$$, and really enjoy it!!! The sensible, practical, and not exciting thing to do. I hate being responsible!!!!!!
But I have a little sister who is 17 & she is coming to Dallas to visit & shop next week, so that will be a vacation for her and fun for me!

HaHa, you sound like me. My vacation will consist of driving 2 hours and visiting my family. But it's ok because they live like 15 minutes from Monterey so I can at least go to the beach or the aquarium when they do free entry for Monterey county residents (yes, I'm that cheap). But with the money I save I can buy something cute
CarrieS, we're also going to go to Cedar Point while I'm there. My husband loves roller coasters and has watched that one special about the worlds best/fastest, etc roller coasters on like the discovery channel about a million times and a couple of the coasters featured are from CP, so he is super stoaked!!!
I'm going on a long weekend getaway to Vegas for my lil sis's 21st bday, that should be fun. I'll probably also take a trip down to San Diego for 4th of July and probably at least one other weekend in SD. Other than that, I won't be taking any major trips. My fam went to New York in May and my parent's 25th wedding anniversary is coming up in October so I need to save some money for that.
FashionPrincess: I love Cedar Point. I worked there 5 years ago and have been back 2 times since; I'm kind of emotionally attached to the place and love being there!
Also, my CP tip: When you ride Millennium Force, ride it at night, and wait for the front row. It's worth the wait, trust me. You risk the chance of being somewhat of a human windshield, but it'll be the best ride you'll ever take on it. (It's my favorite ride)
Raptor is also another personal favorite and Top Thrill Dragster is defnitely a unique experience.
They really are the best amusement park in the world IMO...
Enjoy!
EDIT: One more tip: pack for cold, rainy, hot, and sunny weather, any combo of those. Lake weather is very unpredictable and can change in a matter of 5 minutes. I saw it go from sunny to dark gray and total downpour in 10 minutes once...
My Kitchen. Really. We are remodeling the kitchen this summer, so not only will we have no money to vacation, we won't have much time since we are doing the remodel ourselves. We may go on a few 3 day mini vacations.
I forget that Cedar Point is a destination. I grew up less than 2 hours away, and I know it like the back of my hand. I'm always surprised to see people with maps of the park trying to find things. I forget that the people there aren't all from MI/OH. It is fun though, so if you are in the area, do check it out. Or wait until October and go for their halloween stuff. Same park but with haunted houses and stuff.
GD: I would love to go to Halloweekends. It looks like it would be so much fun! But it's an 11 hour drive to CP from my house, so I can't totally justify the trip...
I also like to think I know the park pretty well (although prob not as well as someone who grew up near it ). I definitely know the front half very well, since that's the area I worked in. I can even tell you where bathrooms and drinking fountains are at...lol
Nothing major planned. We were supposed to go to Vegas, but since I quit my job and the bf is in debt up over his eyeballs from all the ridiculous home renovations and repairs, we aren't doing that now. We'll probably go to the beach a few times (Delaware and Maryland beaches, NOT the Jersey Shore) and possibly a long weekend to Charleston, SC (the bf has family there and I've been obsessing over visiting that city).
no vacation for me this summer. most of my free time/money will go towards the process of applying to grad school b/c i want to get that out of the way asap. if i get into my top choice then i'll probably save money so i can take the entire summer off next year.
i was in paris a couple weeks ago and then denver for a friend's wedding. later this summer, after i leave my job, i'll go out to san francisco to see my brother and his wife. a couple months ago they found out they're having a baby and i've been so excited to go see them ever since. she should be showing by the time i get there! and then my BF and i are thinking of going up to maine for a long weekend, or maybe long island -- just someplace not too expensive.

I was thinking the same thing. I am in Michigan and we usually get seasons passes and go a million times a summer.

My friend and I and are going to visit another friend from law school 7/18-7/24 at her house in South Hampton. I think we're going into the city a few of those days so I want to see my best friend from college then too.
Other than that, only weekend trips to Atlanta, the NC mountains, and Nashville.
Nothing to exciting since we don't want to spend a lot of money this summer. I'll probably take a couple weeks off and just hang out at home w/ the dog. We are also planning a long weekend in San Francisco in September.
